You have two options:

1> begins with P and ends with B and is only 3 letters long.

2> Bengins with B end with R and is only 3 letters long.

See you at the Pab Bur

You soon find the bulk of the Whites fans on a Euro trip.

we get to Madrid at 9am Wednesday, from all accounts it looks like Puerto del Sol is the place to be, also close by Gran Via for more bars and chewing places, I think a lot of us are doing the Real Madrid stadium tour Wednesday afternoon

I went to the Bernabeu (with England) a ouple of years ago, unfortunately I was carried out on a stretcher at half time, i was that pist I collapsed and Police and paramedics carried me out, I didn't even know the score until the day after :drinks:

I'm sure we'll all go to Sol, but my guide book says:

"Madrid's nightlife surrounds the Plaza de Santa Ana, with literally hundreds of bars"

Which sounds like my/our kind of place

Sol was place of choice for Aberdeen fans.

Lots of horror stories there, keep passports and wallets away from from thieving gypo's fingers

Not a bad read that, seems there's plenty muggers and pickpockets around Madrid though. <_<

just joined the website guys so go easy on me....ill be travelling with wanderersways tours from manchester on wednesday morning..my first trip wuth you guys hope it will be a memorabil one for the right reasons and look forward to meeting a few of you..

1) Santa Ana is the best bet... lots of bars in & around the square. Locals use them so not rip off prices.

2) Plaza Mayor... Okay, traffic free square, but very touristy, with prices to match & more geared towards eating than drinking. Definitely worth a visit though.

3) Sol... very busy with traffic & people, not very good for lots of drinking, but very good for the pick-pockets. Aberdeen only congregated there because they didn't know any better.

All 3 squares are within walking distance of each other so you can easily check them all out.

Worth spending an hour at Mayor, 15 min's. at Sol & the rest of the time at Ana.

Enjoy!

Not bad advice there Ziggy :good: we never tried Santa Ana - but the Plaza Mayor on the day of the game was fantastico. Anyone who spent the afternoon in those dogshite rip off Oirish bars missed a treat............Mayor was the place to be on match day, it was quality :drinks:

PS - All the stuff on here about sol square being a possible meeting place was a bit misleading, there's not one fooking bar on there (just a few crappy ones in the sidestreets off it)

I thought this advice was absolutely spot on.

The Tapas bars/restaurants on Santa Ana were great. Anyone see the guys on the accordion and the crazy dancer!?

Mayor was the "square" which has now become defined as a must for Bolton's Euro excursions

Sol - didn't get it, few decent bars on the side streets, but basically just a busy traffic island

Spot on that Ziggy - just went unfound by many.

We marked its cards on our walking tour on Wednesday afternoon and spent a good few hours there on Thursday. Plenty of good Bolton lads in there.
