No, we never reformed as a new company, we are still the same one formed in 1895.

Another club that shut down in the 1980s and started up as a new company was Wolverhampton Wanderers. There may have been others but I forget which.

 

It wouldn't be allowed to happen that way now. It was an easy way of clubs writing off their debt and starting afresh - a bit like the clubs in administration who offer their creditors 1p in the pound.

 

I think the FA or Football League changed their rules such that any new company would have to apply for re-election to the league. That's why football clubs have been using this administration lark and rather than shutting down the orginal company they are selling the shell of the orginal company to a new company for ?1.

 

That is why I think Wolves and Middlesbrough should be ashamed of their past. Bolton did not rip-off their creditors in the dark days of the 1980s. The Normid Supermarket may have been a major embarrasment to Bolton fans but at least it represented a genuine attempt to act with some honour and pay their debts.

 

When people talk of the proud history of Wolves you should always remind them that the 'glorious' old gold club was shut down in ignominy and that the present Wolves club has won no major trophies.
