Megson Can I Just Point Out

The fact that we were bottom when he got here and the fact that we now looking like staying means one thing.

He is a better manager than Sammy Lee.

This does not mean he is the right man to sort things out at the club, however I have yet to see a better realistic option.

The fact the players only started to play for last few games puts a massive question mark over megsons ability to motivate a team throughout a season.

I knwo there are other threads on similar subjects but thought we needed anonther one !

Cas won't disagree but Sat proved people want to watch when there's something to play for, even if it is a relegation battle.

?199 a seat would be start.

if you price season tickets at ?199 do you also accept we might not sign anyone and the debt might go up ?

Quite a few on here do not think that Megson is the right man to take us forward,so who is then?

Everyone has an opinion on who's the best man for the job and if Hull don't get promoted i would give Phil Brown a crack at it, he's learned his trade the hard way (Derby for example) and he knows what the clubs all about at every level, unfortunately i think Fatside would be a problem having once told him that he would never be our manager

Just my opinion like

was your first post, you added the "apart from" in another post.

So apart from Souness,Coleman and Bruce it would seem that you are right, :nea:

hi what have the Romans ever done for us <_<

Coleman and Bruce were never contacted, gartside contacted the clubs and was told to piss off. As said, we only spoke to two managers, Souness and Megson.....some list that was then

Where's the ?40m from SKY going?

Ok maybe the ?199 was a little low :p but 15K at ?400 equates to 25K at ?240, ok I'm not taking into account some will be owd folk and kids.

We need to price so that it doesn't allow anyone to complain they are too expensive.

If we do it for say ?240 a seat and we don't sell then I'm afraid football is dying/dead, people have had enough of silly kick off times, games moved with a couple of weeks notice, found other things to do. I wouldn't condemn them been there and each to their own.

I cannot remember where I read this, but I believe I saw an article stating that the smaller premiership club do not rely on gate receipts, but more on individual sponsorship and Sky. Hence they have little need to listen to and respond to fans, and why outside businesses only look to buy clubs with huge catchment areas...although I freely admit I may have dreamt this

the problem comes if we price at say ?300 and still only sell 15000 or so.

the club has more opportunity this year than ever before to get fans back involved, due to the extra TV money.

the last few away games have seen the fans respond to very good offers from the club (you can tell they are good offers becuase of take up and the fact the miserable twats on here have nt mentioned them)

the club has to make a desicion not based on the porofit and loss account because if they do prices wont fall much, a 25% reduction in ticket price will not see a 25% increase in attendances, so cutting prices will cost the money, hopefully the club can see having a full ground brings in other benefits.

You said (before you chopped and changed your arguement about a dozen times) that Megson was a done deal from the start and no other manager was considered. So what did Gartside want to speak to Coleman and Bruce about?

I had a ST for over 20 yrs. Now haven't had one for 3 seasons.

However, I'd renew if it was sub ?300.

how did he know who was in the interview then?

"wanted to speak to"

Wh ythe fcuk are people saying 'we didn't speak to this person, we didn't speak to that person'

How the fcuk do you know?!?!?!?! These things are often kept quite in a professional business. Bolton wouldn't want it announcing that everyone is turning us down and the respective managers may not want their name brought up in the media.

Too many people on here are being negative IMO.

Megson took on a poor squad with no confidence. He has kept us up and signed some good players. Our performances haven't been great but they weren't under Allardyce.

Megson is staying, simple as that. Deal with it and stop whinging.

Grabing at straws springs to mind :nea:

We didn't speak to Mourinho, Scolari or Pele.

Distinct lack of ambition. We should have finished 4th.

Really ?

I am part of the 'it' crowd, why thank you.

Back to ST prices. I believe that last year we flogged 13.5k STs compared to over 21k just a few years ago. Thats a heck of a drop and we could do with halting that slide, for starters. I think I paid ?410 or summat for my ESL last year; I think certainly getting it below ?380 means you're below ?20 a match and that's got summat going for it. Personally I'd drop it a bit further for early registering renewers and also have a temptingly low offer for anyone who stopped their ST over the last few years - try to get 'em back.

Another thought - is their any mileage in offering tickets for longer than 1 season (at a very good yearly rate, of course)?

Also, there should be incentives for people to actually use their ST - and even if they cant get to the game to pass it on to someone. If you knew that every swipe was providing an incentive eg by lowering the next year price or summat, then we'd get bums on seats which (i) must help the atmosphere and (ii) will provide some payback from catering etc... albeit probably fairly mimimal in the grand scheme of things, but not to be entirely sniffed at.
