Aye he's going home.

I wonder if there'll be any Poles at Manchester airport to give him a hero's welcome? <_<

FWIW I'm sure Webbs descision to award that pen was a typical "look at me ma, i'm a star" type of descision that's all too typical of todays Premiership Refs, Webb was determined to "make his mark" on the game , and he did - for all the wrong reasons. If Refs were to award pens for that type of offence we'd have 6 pens a game.Total travesty, and the jam rolls have every right to be pissed off imo.

I thought it was a clear pen??

And I think Howard Webb is only bettered by Uriah Rennie as a ref

Webb is a decent ref, but that was no way a pen, nevermind a clear one.

met Webb at a Q&A session a few years back and asked him about BSA and his vocal approach on thr touchlines. webb said BSA was a pussycat and suntan was the one who was to be feared!!!

Pen for me, if you are going to grab a handful of shirt you dont do it right under the refs nose

I cannot stand the guy but Graham Poll was on a radio station discussing the decision, and for once he was talking a bit of sense.

Basically he said technically it was a penalty, but Webb should have managed the match better by not allowing it the get to injury time before penalising anybody for this kind of offence. He intimated something should have been done earlier, either talking to the players or yellow cards earlier in the match so you don't end up in the situation Webb did in the last minute and the furore it caused.

He also stated that the two refs; Webb and one other who implemented UEFA directive about shirt pulling by giving penalties both got dropped after the group stages. Therefore implying that UEFA want to be seen as clamping down on certain things but don't really want the refs to implement if going to cause controversy!!
