fruitbat69 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Off on Sunday for the 3rd day however trains looking bobbins to get there in time from my lancs/yorks bolthole so will have to drive. Anyone know best places to park near the ground ?
Traf Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 9.50 from Todmorden gets to Leeds at 10.50. 5 min cab ride.
fester58 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 last time i went to headingley about 8 years ago, it wasn't to bad, there were loads of streets without parking restrictions, weather it has or will change between then and now don't know but it has a big student population
Widnes Two Hats Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Get yourself a penny farthing and peddle there You'll make it in no time
HazzyinBolton Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I went a year or 2 ago & there was plenty of street parking, but it obviously gets busy - get there early.

M G WHITES Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 106-4 KP out for 45 off 46 balls. Cant see this going to well today but Broad to get us to a half decent score with a gritty half century late in the day.Lets hope our Freddy can chip in too.
Traf Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 We'll not make 220. Hoggard should have played too. Home ground.
KP Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Or Tim Bresnan, not many Englishmen around bowling over 90mph.
M G WHITES Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Or Tim Bresnan, not many Englishmen around bowling over 90mph. Here come's the big lad 123-5

superjohnmcginlay Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 How does an Aussie get to represent England!! Okay he was born in Grimsby but raised and works in Oz!!
globaldiver Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 How does an Aussie get to represent England!! Okay he was born in Grimsby but raised and works in Oz!! Probably more english than that chap who got yaorkshire thrown out of the 20/20?
Traf Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 We'll not make 220.Hoggard should have played too. Home ground. Just scraped/limped past 200. SA 69/2 Pattinson only got 3 overs with new ball!
superjohnmcginlay Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 See the Vaughn catch incident, the batter walked the umpires agree then the South Africa coach walks down and tells the batter to stay because of the tv replay?
maaarsh Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 See the Vaughn catch incident, the batter walked the umpires agree then the South Africa coach walks down and tells the batter to stay because of the tv replay? Yup, on the same day De Villiers tried to claim a catch after simply dropping it and picking it up afterwards. Very poor show.
M G WHITES Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Yup, on the same day De Villiers tried to claim a catch after simply dropping it and picking it up afterwards. Very poor show. Thank fcuk for that, first test wicket for Pattinson. 143-4
superjohnmcginlay Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Thank fcuk for that, first test wicket for Pattinson. 143-4 How they picked him is beyond me, Hoggard shouldver played at his own patch.
Traf Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I agree! We'll not make 220.Hoggard should have played too. Home ground.
superjohnmcginlay Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I agree! Sorry Traf didnt see that The trouble is though they could try to depend on Freddy too much, and after his injuries they cannot afford to do so, the selectors need sacking for one of the most outragous selections ever!!!!
Traf Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 As Sidebottom was injured, Freddie should have been his replacement, or Hoggard as discussed. Failing that, you look to experienced internationals like Simon Jones and Steve Harmison. Or Tramlett who has been permanent 12th man. If Freddie had been used as Sidebottom's replacement: either Collingwood would have hung on to his place (due to score soon! can bowl and is a great fielder) or another specialist batsman could have played, rather than the tail starting at 6 with the dreadful Ambrose. The batting line-up should/could have been: Cook Strauss Vaughan (currently only in team, because he's captain!) Pietersen Bell Collingwood / Specialist Batsman Flintoff Broad Ambrose (wk) (no.9 is more realistic) Anderson Panesar A strong batting line-up and Flintoff / Anderson is a good new ball pairing with Broad / Collingwood / Panesar as backup. Finally, you have to wonder what messages the selectors are sending out by selecting this Pattinson bloke. Harmison, Hoggard and Jones have had form and fitness issues over the past couple of years, but were instrumental in our fairly recent successes. They were sent off to their counties to get fit, get some overs in and take wickets. So, off they go and play county cricket: Harmison's got 34 wickets, Jones has 29, Hoggard has 22 and Saj Mahmood has 28. Yet no recall for any of them. Instead they bring a fat Aussie in with limited first class experience and he's 30 already.
