Scoring on your debut is always a good way of getting in with the locals. But that aside, and without trying to analyse his performance too much, I thought he had a pretty decent first game. Passed the thing in the right direction and not afraid to do a bit of work off the ball.

Thought he had good workrate ethic off the ball, steady start & can see him bagging a few goals for us this season- ok by me so far

debut goals work wonders, the price tag wont weigh as heavy on him now.

 

we had a forward once called john dahl tommasson, missed an absoloute sitter on his debut, and again on his 2nd game, and never recovered. he played the full season but had a shocker.

 

he then went on to play for ac milan and win the champs league. a few ex players books ive read have claimed his confidence had gone early on, he was awesome in training, but just couldnt quite do it on the day. shame. but it happens.

anelka was 11 games without a goal or summat for us, still bagged em.

 

I was impressed with elmander, was a complete unknown to me before though so its all first impressions, given time (which i think fans will give him now he's bagged one) i think he could settle in the team well.

 

Hopefully his goal will be first of many!

Not match fit, worked hard, was f?cked when he went off

Always been the same.... Philliskirk = 20/30 goals, Reeves = 5/6 goals.... yet Reeves was the one everyone loved for some reason ????

If he puts that much effort into every game, will do for me. Some defences will be bolloxed with Elmo and davo knocking f*ck out of 'em and chasin lost causes. Jst need a another midfielder wi' creativity. Another Youri.

what was most pleasing for me was his first shot which was over the bar from the right just outside thebox...

When Almander went off we reverted to last seasons Davies in the middle, on his tod not creating much formation.

I seriously doubt he has a better first touch than Anelka.

Worked hard, looked a class act on the ball & likes to get a shot off early - just what we need.
