Dzemaili Watch

Dzemaili Inspires Toro

Torino saw off Serie C side Pro Vercelli in a friendly last night and President Urbano Cairo was delighted with the performance of Blerim Dzemaili.

The Granata saw off the 1908 and 1909 Italian champions 3-0 with goals from Dzemaili, Elvis Abbruscato and Rolando Bianchi.

Toro seem to be high on confidence after a valuable 3-0 victory over Lecce in Week 1 and Cairo is pleased with the way the side is coming together.

?I think we will see the real Toro by mid-October or even before,? he asserted.

?I'm very happy with the players that Gianni De Biasi has at his disposal and I'm pleased that we have sold 13,500 season tickets already.?

Young Swiss international midfielder Dzemaili, who arrived from Bolton on loan this summer, was the star of the show.

?I was very impressed by the performance of Dzemaili who showed that he can be a leading light,? Cairo enthused.

?He is a playmaker for this team and he had a great game even though he was in action in an Under-21 international on Tuesday.

?The young lad is hard-working, humble and has a great desire to do well. Luckily we also have Eugenio Corini to guide him and advise him.?

Torino: (First half): Sereni; Diana, Franceschini, Ogbonna, Rubin; Zanetti, Dzemaili, Saumel; Rosina, Stellone, Amoruso

(Second half): Calderoni; Colombo, Di Loreto, Ogbonna (Gorani 83), Pisano; Vailatti, Corini, Barone; Abbruscato, Bianchi

if he is only on loan for the season then surely he must have another 2 years left on his contract??, if he only had one year left he would have been given a free transfer or sold?

Bring the lad back!!

I though he played class against the greek side, peach of a free kick for the goal.

but yeah he isnt megsons type of player,

Does anyone know when his contract runs out?

End of this season IIRC. I'm sure he signed on a 2yr deal.

Why didnt we give him a free transfer then if hes on loan for the season? we must have the right to recall him if needed!

If we released him, we would have to pay up his contract. Him being on loan means Torino pay his wages (as they would if we released, and then they signed).

If we gave him a free transfer, he would have been in a better bargaining position re: wages with Torino, which they may have declined, and we end up with him stuck in the reserves.

If you mean the legend that is Javier Zanetti, no it isn't. He's still captain of Inter.

It isn't Cristiano Zanetti, either.

It's some geezer called Paolo.

I reckon we should have loaned him out for a month or 2 to get some games under his belt,

I reckon this lad will come good, unfortunetely it wont be for us!

Preoblem is, I don't think Megson would play him, even if he was the last fit midfielder we had at the club.

For his own sake, he's better off elsewhere.

To be fair he has only played well against Pro Vercelli, who are probably as good as Stevenage Borough. Let's see if he hacks it playing proper teams in Serie A

See how he fares against Calcio Ravioli next week.

Probably a fair point, though Stevenage haven't won the league seven times!

Sadly I agree with all those who think Megson didn't/doesn't/wouldn't know what to do with him.

Better for Dzemaili that he's somewhere else, and whatever happens he'll almost certainly be off our books by next June if not before. It's gonna leave some of us feeling a bit sick tho if he hacks it in Serie A this season for a currently not-very-strong club.

Still, Megson's nailed his colours to the mast and there we are.

<_<

Bury were once a top flight club as well

Exactly. Managers/coaches saw him every single day and didn't think he was worth playing. I think Megson et all are in a better place to judge than you or I

Ahh yes, because training and reserve matches can show a players true quality.........Mccann must be really inspirational on the training ground then

Well if he's not doing it in training or reserve matches - how is a manager meant to risk playing him in a team/system that relies on a water-tight midfield? When he played his first game against Sheff Utd in the cup - everyone on here was slagging Megson off for playing him cus he had a nightmare.....

Difficult player to express an opinion on.

Last season he was coming back from a very serious cruciate ligament injury. So he had the problem of getting fit in addition to gearing up to the much quicker English league. He has good ball skills and could deliver a useful free kick. I just couldn't judge whether he would be quick and strong enough in open play.

I've no opinion either way, but I certainly don't buy into this "coaches know best" bollocks.

Kevin Davies was a useless muppet as far as Southampton were concerned, and yet we can't manage without him.

Football is littered with players who weren't fancied at one club but went on to be an integral part of another.

After his injury, loaning Dzemaili out was probably the only way to find out what he's capable of, but, as has already been said, if he does turn out to be a world beater, we'll almost certainly lose him for nothing.
