I asked (hence the use of a question mark in my reply) if it could possibly have been because Steinsson's goal was actually a cross that went astray.

You don't half make life hard for yourself Dunster. As Traf said, it was a cross and that's why it wasn't in the mix. No matter how much you want to dress him up Steinsson is no Marco Van Basten.

Not if they admitted it was a cross. If Steinsson had said "I saw a little gap,so i went for it" the goal would have rightly got more recognition.

I think, Mr.BB, that is the crux of the matter & the reason Steinsson's goal was not included. I see no conspiracy.

Steinsson's goal was an accident.

 

Then again, I remember Malcom McDonald scoring against us in an FA cup tie. He admitted that it was meant as a cross. It won goal of the season.

I find it entertaining so i watch it.

Most of the goals that are goal of the month/season/century are shots from way outside the penalty area. Now we all know that those shots can go anywhere, many sailing high over the bar. A goal that involves a lot of build up rarely wins goal of the month. No doubt a lot of posts will follow quoting examples of goals of the month that did.

 

By the way, is it "Goals of the Month" or "Goal of the Months". I've just spent five minutes debating with myself which is correct.

The compound noun must surely be Goal of the Month. Otherwise it could be loads of goals from one month.

I think that if watching WWE wrestling stops Frank from furiously wanking over gardening magazines in the foyer of Morrisons, then it's got to be a good thing.
