Very true and we showed more in today's 2nd half than we showed in the first 5 games of last season combined.

I thought Steinsson struggled badly today.

It was reminiscent of his performance against Ryan Babel last season.

it doesn't help when the only protection you have is smolarek

I don't know much of Smolarek , but i always thought he was a striker

 

Think the boos when he came off was due to people wanting JOB off and then put Riga and Smolarek along side Davies for more of an attacking threat , saying that we did better when he came off and the brilliant Riga came on .

 

I was beginning to think that Riga would be like Wilhelmsson and Braaten , not given a chance , when they do they don't take it , but he's looked impressive nearly all time . Hope Smolarek can be given more games to bed in team , but when Taylor and Elmander return , Megson will have to think about how he's gonna leave certain players out .

Maybe , Don't think Muamba had the best of games today , he started well , he ran past about 3 players but then had no support so it didn't lead to any good but then he looked a little nervy and didnt help our defenders out either , Steinsson and JLS kept leaving gaps and kept letting the Arsenal players run in behind them and at times we looked like we had 4 center halfs rather than a spread out back 4 and the space they allowed Arsenal was very poor .

 

Sometimes i feel midfielders and attackers are hesitant to play with more freedom and variety 'cos they not confident in the back 4 to keep things nice and tight so they can go and express themselves , im not saying this is the case with Muamba today or JOB but hopefully our defence looks better when Cahill returns , I also think Sh,ittu is not as good as Meite and looks like 20 stone and isnt mobile enough , I would of played Hunt at right back and Steinsson in the center with AOB , but shi,ttu was not as bad as Steinsson in that 1st half .

 

2nd half was an improvement attack wise but Arsenal had just as many chances , and if you count Steinsson goal as lucky we still havent scored a goal from open play yet in 5 league games yet . Which is a worry . Take away the Fulham game we are creatign chances , i really hope once Megson finally realises Riga is what we want and is better than certain players and Elmander is back our fortunes turn around .

 

Were 1 point better off from last season , but not in the carling cup so it's pretty much same in terms of results , the players just need to show the belief they showed in fighting relegation

I'm glad we got rid of crap classless players like Campo, Speed, Stelios, Diouf etc and replaced them with J O Brien, McCann, Muamba. We've definitely going to challenge for europe. Hunt Meite Faye Gardner coudlnt lace the current back four's boots.

The period they had us under the cosh and scored the two goals in quick succession was an eye opener when you watch it again in slomo. Failure to do the fundamentals cost us dearly. JLS, Muamba and others guilty of losing the ball in key positions allowing the pressure to be back on us immediately. A few good, old fashioned 'clear your lines' jobs could have made a difference.

If Curbishley could be tempted up north, I would like to see him at the helm. West Ham didn't work out but looking at his entire managerial career and the fact that he was once a favourite for the England job, I think he'd be a safe bet. Would expect mid table prospects but also a team that showed a little flair.

Surely he got sacked by West Ham for not having enough flair? However, these things are relative, I suppose!

I can't understand all this Megson bashing. When we appointed him I believed he was the best man for the job at that time, and I haven't seen anything since to change my mind.

Sammy Lee lost the dressing room, moral was very low at the club when Megson arrived. The truth is we were bottom of the league below Derby County(whether people want to acknowledge it or not).

The day after he arrived we had the dickhead protesters outside the ground with the 'Megson No No No' banner. I felt sorry for Megson having to start a new job under these conditions.

The protesters looked foolish when he kept us in the Premiership, the bookies were giving good odds at the time for that to happen, and they aren't wrong too often.

The bloke can't win with some fans, when he motivated the players to that great winning run at the end of last season it was the players themselves that did it and he just happened to be there. When we put in a bad performance at Fulham with 3 first teamers out, it was because Megson is unable to motivate the team

After the crap performance at Fulham he talked about getting a 'Spirited Display' from the players against Arsenal, this proves that he has the confidence in his own ability as a manager.

He has proved himself in the past when he got West Brom into the Premiership, and was given no money. I'm sure if he inherited a squad like Liverpool have for example he would be managing a team in the Champions League.

He has made some great signings so far, better than I expected and he only just missed out on a couple of creative midfielders. I'm sure he will bag one of them in the next transfer window.
