Allardyce Article In Times

Which was exactly my point!

Talking to a Forest fan this morning who reckoned this could happen

Old Big Head to Old Fat Head.

Unlike Megson who failed there. He's doing a splendid job at Bolton.

I knew it would be you! I'm just surprised it took so long.

Megson hasn't the same ego as Allardyce. He's unlikely to arrived at Forest and said "I'll save you!"

Megson hardly covered himself in glory. I'd lay a tenner that SA will do better and not blame other managers for poor form after 5 months in charge.

Forest relegated

Megson resigns

2. :D

I'd lay a tenner that SA will do better

He'll do a decent job I'm sure, but football's changed alot in the last few years. I think Allardyce needs to be the big man at a club - he'll never be that at Forest under Clough's shadow, just like he wasn't at Newcastle under Keegan's. Allardyce will be the first to say he's inherited a crap squad if he isn't successful after 6 months - any manager would.

if we're comparing though, then I'd say Megson's ?30m spent with Bolton is better than the ?30m Allardyce spent at Newcastle.

didn't alladyce blame the takeover for him not being able to bring the players he wanted when at newcastle, even though he sp?nked transfer fees and wages on a fair number of players, like alan smith, and enrique, and barton, and viduka, and capaca, and geremi

oh and rozenhal

and faye

ie

he had the chance to bring in loads of players, and did

as for megson, his main problem at forest was the players really didn't g?ve a sh?t, thought they were at a big club and acted like big players - they were going down no matter what

Much as I admit to not being GM's greatest fan, I must say that I like the way he conducts himself in front of the cameras. Calm and assured.

When you think of some of the shiyte he's had to deal with (e.g the f?cktards with the bed sheet when he arrived; that clown with the cardboard sign the other week etc.) he deserves great credit for maintaining a dignified public persona.

As I have said all along, I hope he proves me wrong and produces a stable premiership BWFC and ends up being a long serving manager. Happy to eat humble pie if this proves to be the case and recent signs are good.

Looks like the next few weeks will be hard going but, if they pick up some unexpected points, GM's stock will grow.

Good article I thought.

Bit reserved on the Barry Knight front - would have torn him to bits as

he could have cost Sam his job and been the catalyst for our club falling apart.

Interesting what he said about the playoffs the following year.

He was spot on with what the fans were thinking when he took off Holdsworth.

I did agree with him about Hendry though.

BSA love for the media has placed him in a dilemma here.

He has voiced to anyone and everyone willing to listen, that he is ready for a return to the big time but he admits himself in this article that he has some concerns that football management may pass him by.

'Mr Yesterdayman' now has to swallow his massive ego and get back into a job. Forest are the kind of 'sleeping giant' that would suit fat face but all the tricks and innovations he used to great success with us, are now taken as granted at most clubs.

IMO he might as well take this job, as I can't see any Premiership touching him now.

It can only be his ego that keeps him wanting another management job.

He's making decent money with the punditry.

Punditry is the way forward.

Being paid to watch football is everyones ideal job.

No pressure like management - its a dream.

Good, on that basis i expect us to get into Europe from now on most seasons . Or does inspired man management have anything to do with getting a relatively mid size club to overperform? Another case of amnaesia.

Another case of amnaesia.

How is it amnaesia? Did the post in anyway forget Allardyce's achievements? No.

It's not amnaesia to have the view that the world has moved on. He pioneered many things and we were the beneficiary of that, however the world caught up with Allardyce's methods and he didn't have a plan B.

Are you as thick as that reply makes out?

It is for the exact reason that most clubs have copied us that we will NOT get into Europe from now on!!!

BSA used a lot of new innovations whilst at Bolton, from the Bosman transfers to the massive behind-the-scenes team of experts. We led the way in a lot of these areas and thus, over achieved with the 4 consecutive top 8 finishes.

Now that most teams use the same methods, our edge over the rest has been erroded over the years to very little / if any advantage as of today.

Are you as thick as that reply makes out?

Most of his previous posts suggest he is.

Yeah but Traf, is what you're really thinking?

Hang on, I'll ask Mart32 what I'm going to say next.........................

PS I wonder how much he lost when Bristol City didn't get promoted.

PS I wonder how much he lost when Bristol City didn't get promoted.

he promised to explain after the play offs

even though they lost, I'd still like to hear why it was a nailed on certainty

or did I miss that explanation?

He didn't explain why it was nailed on, nor did he explain how we all lost our money.

Must be another case of amnaesia
