In my view, you can look back to the Liverpool game for reasons why we lost.

 

After a blinding performance against Pompey, Megson disrespectfully (for the fans who paid money to go there) tells his players we ain't going to get anything at Anfield and instills a lack of confidence which carried itself through to yesterday.

 

Contrast this to Wigan whose tails were up after their Newcastle win, and you could see after 15 mins who was in the ascendency. Wigan set their stall out, got the goal, and in the second half, allowed Bolton to come at us as both teams tired.

 

The combination of tiredness, lack of motivation and increasingly impatient crowd led to our players giving the ball away too easy and making basic mistakes.

 

I actually thought an equaliser was coming just before Megson showed his lack of tactical nous and bowed to crowd pressure and brought the ineffective Riga on, and kept Taylor on the pitch (who was clearly shattered).

 

The Christmas period is a time when managers become more than the 12th man. Playing 2 games in 48 hours at this level requires a canny manager who is inspirational and a master tactician.

 

I'm afraid to say Megson hasn't got what it takes.

If our manager is so uninspirational how do you explain the goals at West Ham, Middlesboro and Sunderland?

Taylor, Samuel and especially Gardner were all shit on Sunday. Any one of them could've gone off. Taylors got goals in him though, which was probably why he was left on.
