Wedding Venues

Get married in an hot-air balloon: that way you don't have to invite anyone.

You still need a witness don't you .

Or have you no friends to invite, If you pay me ?500 I will be your witness. ::lol::

In a roundabout kind of way you have to weigh up the 'cost to feed versus gift vouchers received' ratio.

If you invite a family consisting of 2 adults and 2 kids for the day it could easily cost ?100 to feed them but you wont get that much back in vouchers. When you only see them at weddings and funerals, its not the best financial decision you will ever make.

Get thesel abroad then have a local club with a pan of lobby and a few dozen pasties.

When mrs cure and I were 'deciding' where to get wed we got to nigh on 600 folk to invite!! I kid you not, with 'well, if you invite her then you have to invite suchabody and their kids and if you invite them we'll have to have their so-and-so'

In the end we sacked it all off and plumped for a civil ceremony in the mayors parlour in Leigh town hall which is superb, followed by a meal for 12 family and very close friends at Egerton House which was amazing and we had the place to ourselves waited on hand on foot, they couldn't do enough!

Followed on by a bash at the Watermillock. Another fantastic venue which was good value and again we wanted for nowt. Only thing I could fault them for is when we went the following day to pick up some stuff they'd chucked the remains of the buffet! I was bloody starving too!

Our wedding is costing 6k.

Mine cost the price of the marriage licence. Then again it didn't last very long!

As Smiffs says, get yoursen abroad.

I did St Lucia for 2 weeks...then had a shindig at Ramada on A6.

Half the cost of doing it here and you get 2 weeks in the sun to boot!

First trip to Cancun was for my niece's wedding at a 5 star all inclusive. Pretty good as all the guests paid their own way through a group booking and we all got a weeks holiday out of it . We had to fly to Canada to join the party to fly onto Mexico but it it still worked out at around 50% of the cost of doing the same hotel from the UK.

Trouble was most of the Canadian guests were plastic Scots and some decided to slag us English off during a session in the cigar lounge. Bad move on their part :aggressive: . Anyway seemed a good and simple way to do the wedding thing and i reckon when young big girl wants to tie the knot, its what I'll try an persuade her to do.
