All the obvious ones have obvious prices.

Are there any you have been to that wouldn't automatically spring to mind that would be more reasonable?

registry office with a pub next door?

My cousin had hers in Darwen, think it was called the Whitehall Hotel, was a good do :good:

Roundhouse in Halliwell

Get yourself abroad then have a pie n pea supper local like when you're back. I mean when your mate's back.

Why not just have a small ceremony for only close friends and family, with a meal in a local restaurant afterwards. Then throw a party in the evening at a large function room, with just a buffet. The majority of function rooms have reasonable prices with/without buffets. You can go in beforehand and dress it up nice for a wedding.

The BRSA Club in Horwich has a massive room for about 150 people.

Have a see if Horwich can get his CC cheap or free.

Pie & Peas supper won't be too pricey either.

that's pretty much what i'm doing.

Get married in an hot-air balloon: that way you don't have to invite anyone.

50 quid deposit, but you get it back if nowt gets broke

check out the watermillock on crompton way, a mate hired the upstairs with a meal and the works waitresses, half the price quoted by some hotels then a disco after in the same room, just had to go in the public bar while they changed it all around. looks the part on the pictures too. was a few years ago and i dont know exactly how much he paid but I am sure they still do it.

other than that, the Bolholt on Walmersley Rd do some good deals for that type of thing few different sized rooms and menus. :good:

:good: aye Walshaw Rd, thats what I meant

You will finally set your heart on some nice place, then find out people cant afford to go, or wont end up giving you the deposit.....!

You will then think, feck them, its our day and we will go were we want....!

Then your Mrs will decide she does actually want these people at the wedding.....and end up giving these tight bastards a free meal and cheap piss up in the sh?t hole of a country...!

Its a pain, expensive, and you will argue like fck with the Mrs.....just run of and do it in Gretna!

In all honesty I agree with Pablo

People throw stupid money at it - for what?

The c?nts who attend don't really give a f?ck (I've been one of those c?nts many a time), they'd be just as happy in the local, and you've blown ?10k

Just seems daft to me

Agreed. If you have money to burn then go for it, but the majority of us have a ?100-?200k mortgages, bills to pay, kids.... To throw anything over ?5000 on a party is crazy IMHO.

There's no reason why you can't spend a couple of grand on it. It will be no less special than the lavish do's with choirs, string quartets, etc.

Vegas dressed as Elvis and Cher in a 10 minute drive through.

You can't buy class.
