Well That Was A Bit Shit

because of the combination of games teams have to play we are mathematically safe, there is a complicated site that works out every combination and we can not go down...................according to them.

last season was nt megsons fault.

next season is make or break for megson.

I agree with that, we all know midfield and centre half needs improving with good quality additions and the squad needs padding out, I hope Megson change's the style of play to 4-4-2 against teams in the bottom half of the table at least, next season I would be happy with 12th or 13th with a good cup run and more entertainment, surely that is not asking too much?

Tis my wish too.

A Cup run? What the fuck is that?

Do we actually bother to enter those competitions nowadays?

A cup run is if we were to win a cup match

A cup run is if we were to win a cup match

Does taking an early lead in the first round of the Manc Senior Cup count?

I remeber at the end of last season people saying...."lets see how he does this season"...

he has no excuses....it is HIS team now,HIS players he has signed...HIS backroom staff and the way HE wants to play...

well I'll tell you what...

somebody who is cleverer than me save this thread...

because this time next year (if he is still here) we will be having exactly the same....if not worse conversation...

The question is with our limited resources and with just 3 transfer windows to get players in has he had enough time? my view is that he should get this close season, for 2 reasons stability within the club is very important and if Megson can keep the players he is happy with and bring in 2-3 in the right areas, he could have the team to go 4-4-2 I feel the reason we play the way we do is because or midfield does not have the quality to keep possesion nor the legs required to get the ball back with a 4 in midfield, if Megson gets the quality of players in and we still are not performing after 15 games we should have a already done the thought proccess and selected an ideal replacement for the job, the new manager should have a reasonable squad to work with and have enough to keep us in the premier league.

come on pvc man, you're a bright bloke

tyler didn't say our players were better now, justy that we try and play, sometimes

would megson have turned okocha into a throwing machine?

ok now I've re read it and I can see it and apologise. I'm not sure about playing more football though, perhaps Ive a selective memory but i don't hold with the view that we were just another Stoke City under BSA. Matches such as utd home 1-1 and the drawn arsenal cup tie away stick in the mind of excellent passing performances when our side outshone the opposition on that front.

Anyway to the existing problem. I appreciate that clubs need stability and that maintaining premier league status is vital if Bolton are not to be the next Soton but its becoming patently obvious that the appointment of Gary Megson has caused an irrevocable split and much unrest among the fans. Unless Bolton improve significantly next season by winning more games and look to play more positively against the top 4, this sore will fester and in any such situation when people in a team are not pulling in the same direction usually that team will not succeed. By team I mean, board, management coaches players and supporters.

Funniest game I've seen in ages, you lot are too serious, we're safe, and we were beforehand. If you wanted entertainment you could have found it, every bad touch from Muamba or terrible McCann pass was greeted by a little chuckle from me, instead of this booing malarky that doesn't help the players.

Also Elmander worked harder than anyone yesterday, and for the first time SKD looked positively disinterested.

Also, if Cahill is still at the club after next summer then it's a miracle.

BWFC are in a massive dilemma, Megson does the job required with the limited budget he is given, but the majority of fans would prefer to see a more attacking 4-4-2 style of football, that will require big investment and maybe a change of manager to attract the quality that is required to play such a system, the alternative is to soldier on with crowds dwindling, yesterday we had 24,000 on with 5000 mackems on yet down the road at a club I consider to be smaller than us there was a bigger crowd with pompey bringing a 1000 or less fans people are voting with there feet, something needs to happen and quick as the negativity unrest and genuine lack of interest from our fans will eventually take us down.

P.S.I have never spoke to as many dissilusioned bolton fans in 35 years of watching the club.

They did an offer the last 3 games of the season all for ?20.

By the Christ there's some moaning cunts on here. If points were given to teams based on the fans ability to whinge we'd be champions of the entire universe.

Look, the football is pretty dross but it's the same at 60% of premier league grounds.

What can be done?

Fucked if I know. But giving free tickets to scantily clad lasses would help.

he has done better than last season, so that will do, as far as the Board is concerned.

Something I find strange from the reactions from yesterday's game:

We can blame Elmander

We can blame Megson

We can blame Mccann, Taylor, Riga . . .

SKD was largely ineffective yesterday but there's not a single post on this thread to say so!

There, I've said it; SKD was not at the game against Sunderland!

he has done better than last season, so that will do, as far as the Board is concerned.

and in my opinion therin lies the problem...

if the board lack any ambition...

how can anyone else below them show any commitment or passion?

How many games can you say Kevin Davies has a bad game? Not very many.So he can be forgiven in my eyes for yesterdays performance. Can you say that about any of the others.

Definately don't agree with "the board doesn't have any ambition". They had to appoint a manager to keep the team up as that was the only concern last season. They did. We survived. They will have demanded progress on last season - and in their opinion there has been.... evidenced by the quicker accumilation of points.

The club clearly have ambition, backing the manager in recruiting a new backroom staff and recruiting a younger player-base and investing in the new academy facilities. They have ambition, they are just sensible enough to know that we will never challenge the top 4, and that any success that will come our way has to be as a result of careful long-term planning.

This includes getting rid of dead-wood on the playing staff and slashing the wage bill... which have been done. The core of the squad is good, with a few choice signings it will be better. Progress. Megson's job was to bring stability back and build the foundations for the next manager to come into a strong, stable club and take it that step on.

Rome wasn't built in a day. And Rome is a shiteload better than Bolton.

I'm not for a minute saying he's been shit all season but the thread is about how shit we were yesterday. Certain players can have great games but will rarely get credit for it. Others can have off games, one off or otherwise, but little is said.

It's hard to pick out any inspirational performances out lately.Jussi is on top of his game all the time.Cahill,Taylor and Davies in my opinion are the only ones not instantly replaceable.

No, we've got more points than at least 3 teams below us. That's how football works. United will win the league because they have more points than 19 below them. Over a season, teams finish where they deserve to be.

No it wouldn't, fans are fans. Sure, the JCL's may drift away, and may well come back with a new manager, but the core 18,000 BWFC have got in every division will always be there.

His remit was to save us when he arrived. He did so. His remit for this season was to improve on last season and build the base for improvement again. He has done that. Is he the longterm answer, no I don't think so. But he's kept us up twice, this year above much bigger clubs and with a younger side. We've tried to play more passing football than anytime under Allardyce, sometimes it's come off, others it hasn't. Takes time to build a side, more than 18 months definately, and he's had to build while making sure there's enough there to keep us up.

The next manager will reap the benefits of the foundations he's laying.

I for one am getting more amd more pi$$ed off with the constant moaning at home games! Most of the people I hear are up for supporting the whites but the minority (including some right boring tw@ts in the north lower seem to be happy just having a moan about everthing we ever do wrong yet if someone tries to support the club and get behind them they report them to a steward.

A fell who sits infront of me has had 3 warnings this season 1 for swearing, 1 for singing to loud and one for doing the munich plane thing!! There seems to be a negative air sneaking into the reebok and it needs getting rid of. We get 18-20k fans every home game, those fans need to get behind the side, especially when were playing bad (to show some encouragement), not report people for trying to get an atmosphere going.

I agree with all the point that Durden has made and think providing we get some decent players in in the summer we will be top 10 next season!

On the positive side. Mark Davies was good. Megson's got another cracking signing there.

i would add JLS to that list. which makes 5.

ricky would get a game 6

m davies is the future 7

gretar will do despite the odd lapse 8.

so we need 3 players, a centre half, a real leader in the midfield and a forward with some pace.

lets see what the summer brings.

to save anyone criticising the 4 i have added they aint perfect but do a decent job so as a priority i would leave them be.

i would nt be heartbroken if we got more than one extra midfield player.

I sit in the North Upper but due to C86 Jnr being a mascot we had seats in the West Lower, never again.

There was one bloke who never stopped fucking moaning, abusing and slagging off from kick off until the end.

Don't get me wrong it was shit yesterday and I'll have a quiet'ish moan if its dire but this fucker was something else.

He sits on Row S about seat 80ish in line with the six yard at the North end of the ground.

Next to him was as an old dear and her grandson, my wife asked her how she puts up with it, old dear has been next to him all season, she moving seats next season. There'll be plenty to choose from....

No doubt the moaning cunt posts on here :p

I think he should get the summer and see how we start next season. If we look at the bigger picture theres 12-13 teams who set out each season just to survive and are not bothered how they do it and we will always be in that bracket unless some billionaire bankrolls us.
