Man_Walking_Dog Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 So how come we only get 20k home fans and that's in the premiership? I don't think we've got more than 12k to be honest. don't ask me. hbayt?
M G WHITES Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 i though it was great the sooner he does fcuk off the better Dick
BittyBattyRatty Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 today was dire, i think many people are getting the team their negative attitude deserves. yep!
DeanoH Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 yep! I agree, the fans support at the Reebok has been dreadful, it's totally their fault how the team play. Can't blame the manager, coaches or players its nowt to do with them.
Casino Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 ani didn't say it was anybodies fault just that the whingers were getting what they deserved

Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 We've tried to play more passing football than anytime under Allardyce, No cant agree!!! the players allardyce brought in were more skillful and capable than this lot
Casino Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 come on pvc man, you're a bright bloke tyler didn't say our players were better now, justy that we try and play, sometimes would megson have turned okocha into a throwing machine?
Natasha Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Megson is the best manager we could possibly hope to have. It doesn't matter that he's got no personality or hates his own fans or plays crap football or thinks Elmander is a good 'un. He kept us up two seasons running with a piss-poor squad, crap fans and the media having a go at him left right and centre for his lack of a decent CV. The man has done a magnificent job. If we'd played open and attractive football we'd have seen bags of goals, unfortunately all in our net. If you don't like Megson and his football then fook off. Who's the mug? Megson for comfortably keeping us in the Prem or some Bolton fans for stumping up ?400+ for something they don't enjoy. With 2 or 3 good signings and a bit of luck we can achieve top 10 next season. Megson is the future of this club. Get used to it.
Taffy White Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 No cant agree!!! the players allardyce brought in were more skillful and capable than this lot That may be true but Megson inherited the Squad that LSL built and got shot of most of em sharpish. hes trying to rebuild slowly but the tricks that Big Sam pulled in signing JJ Youri etc are no longer as easy.

Megson for comfortably keeping us in the Prem or some Bolton fans for stumping up ?400+ for something they don't enjoy. I'm in the Megson camp here but only because I like a senblance of stability. I think he's just about good enough to keep us out of the bottom 3 which keeps the club safer, but its not good enough to tempt me to part with my hard earned. Far from it. When I can see us going out to win, rather than not to lose, then I might think about it again. But long term, losing 6 or 7 thousand fans over the last few years, with lots more to come due to the dire shite thats being played, isn't acceptable is it? We're not just talking about JCL's here we're talking about folk who have been watching for donkeys years. Just 5 years back we'd fill a 16 seater week in week out. Lads who had been going since the bad old days. Now there are 2. You're happy for these people to simply fuck off? And it wont affect anything? Open your eyes. It's fucking rubbish and folk are stopping going by the thousands as a result.

This is a wider problem than just ours, many clubs are going through the same problems. part of football died when the Prem was set up. its no longer about the quest for glory for all but a handfull but the fear of what relegation means if they get relegated and lose the sky cash that drives most clubs. How this gets sorted out is beyond me but Gartsides plan for a 2 tier Prem is clearly in many clubs interest but it doesnt appeal to me Edited May 10, 2009 by Taffy White

M G WHITES Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Now i have sobered up my views on the game yesterday was that yes it was a poor game and i know Megson must be able to see this but i am sure that come Summer he will strengthen the team and make us a top 8 team again,he's the man for the job,you will see this next season

It's fucking rubbish and folk are stopping going by the thousands as a result. when we first moved up from burnden, we had a 52 seater from the seven stars... now only two still have season tickets....and next year there will be non... sorry...there are a huge range of reasons why, but the football on offer and the match day "non" experience are two major factors...
snowball Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 The whole 'Off off' thing isn't remotely funny, and only serves to wind up members of the coaching and, more importantly, the playing staff in the middle of a game. So yes, they are wankers. If that's all you can complain about after yesterday then it's you who is the wanker. I think Megson deserves some stick after the last few performances. We've long since given up on giving the top teams a game, but for the first half against Wigan and again yesterday, the opposition ran rings around us. Wigan and Sunderland taking the piss! Just what system are we playing? Elmander is under a lot of pressure (been building up match after match) but leaving the way we play aside, the fact that he wasn't the only one, the service, the weather, the ticket office or any other excuse already thought up for him.....He was utter shite yesterday. He couldn't control the ball when it came to him and jumped at the ball with no conviction at all. He is shaping up to be the biggest waste of money since Dean you know who. I think all the same excuses were made for that cnt as well. I am sick of watching a shite game and patronising nobbers on here trying to deflect from Megsons 'tactics' by coming over all holier than thou regarding our fans. Yes we have some tossers but its the tosser in charge who's worst of all. We've always had dickheads get used to it. can't get used to Megson. And before I finish my rant, another thing i've got against Megson. This guy does not help himself off the pitch. I know a few people behind the scenes at the Reebok who are pissed of with our managers attitude. Want Gary Megson to come to the Junior Whites, charity do's for the club, good will visits? Forget it, he's off home to Sheffield as fast as he can, doesn't see it as his job. I know there are those who argue that it isn't his job and as long as he keeps us in the premiership that's all that matters. Well its's not to me, how can you argue that he has any affinity for the club? He doesn't help himself and when things get realy tough it's this lack of affection for Megson that could cost him his job. I don't think I owe Megson anything. I am with the 'wankers' now.
bolty58 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I do sympathise with the poor feckers who paid to watch that. That word pragmatic again but we did reach the '40 point mark' yesterday and something great happened north of the border. Sh1t to watch or not, I found myself having a little contented smile last night.

We have been sweating and worrying for weeks and we still ain't mathematically safe with two games to go. Last season we stayed up by the skin of our teeth. I might just be one of those who fucks off because I am sick and tired of watching that shite every week. I would rather play entertaining football in the Championship than watch the shit on offer in the Premiership we are getting. I understand that we have to play in your face football , spoiling tactics and humping it when we play a team like Arsenal or Man U like Big Sam did but when we play teams like Wigan, Sunderland, Fulham, West Brom and many others who are no better than us, then I expect a bit of passin, entertaining football. At least Big Sam could mix it according to the opposition. This prick plays the same against everyone.
Mounts Kipper Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 (edited) BWFC are in a massive dilemma, Megson does the job required with the limited budget he is given, but the majority of fans would prefer to see a more attacking 4-4-2 style of football, that will require big investment and maybe a change of manager to attract the quality that is required to play such a system, the alternative is to soldier on with crowds dwindling, yesterday we had 24,000 on with 5000 mackems on yet down the road at a club I consider to be smaller than us there was a bigger crowd with pompey bringing a 1000 or less fans people are voting with there feet, something needs to happen and quick as the negativity unrest and genuine lack of interest from our fans will eventually take us down. P.S.I have never spoke to as many dissilusioned bolton fans in 35 years of watching the club. Edited May 10, 2009 by Mounts Kipper
seasoned Traveller Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 When we support a club who's sole ambition in Premier League Survival, it's hardly surprising many people are NOT choosing to renew, we are not the only ones though. I wonder if Stoke stay in the Prem for 6 years, would they be having the same discussions???? I've been twice this year, Northampton and Wigan and both games were bloody awful, next week I come again, I think it should be a good game with Hull having something to play for, but I'm not holding my breath. A mate of mine said, I cant beleive we dont go anymore after going all the time when we were playing teams like Crewe, Chesterfield, Swindon etc etc, I agreed, but now its all about the cash and not the silverware, well unless your a top six team. We aim for Europe, get in and dont take it seriously, so how do the fans feel???, they get disillusioned and stay away.

Megson has 3 major failings for me 1. He seems to concentrate a lot more on the negatives than the positives, rather than having a bit of a laugh at the expenses of the 'off off'brigade he gets all 'how dare they make fun of me'. The off off chant was predictable but amusing, it certainly was nt the level of abuse julian darby would get off sections of our support. 2. He think his job is mon-fri training and preparing the team, saturday putting a team out to gradually accumalate 40 points, which although his main objective is only one part of his job, he does as a very very well paid manager have a responsibilty for the fans and building a relationship with them. Since he got here he has done nothing on this and hence the divides between club and fans gets bigger. 3. He has almost ignored the lack of form and confidence of elmander, the guy looked desperate to be subbed yesterday he was walking over before the board went up. he has talent but yesterday he looked like he did not know what to do. he can not play as a lone striker and we do not have the players to get arround him (like sunderland did with jones yesterday). start of second half he was playing right hand side of a midfield 5, he looked lost, like he did playing for sweden last summer. i do not condone the way some fans just hate things because it is megson and give him no credit for anything, but the guy has to realise that there is more to his job than amassing 40 points. Would it hurt to attend and encourage players to attend fans events? he can not on the one hand ignore these events and then complain that fans are not supporting him. it is a 2 way street. the attitude of megson implies that we should just turn and be grateful that he is doing a job, well sorry but that does nt work with me. if he does nt care what fans think then do not moan if they start taking the piss, you do not care what they think so why are you bothered ? if you do care what fans think put some effort into building bridges, it might be hard work given where things are now but in the long run it will help. as i say his main job is improving the team which he is doing, the problem he is making for himself is that say we finish 15th this season, if we finish 16th next season he is fucked because the team is no longer improving and he has all his eggs in one basket. do not get me wrong i do not want max clifford running the club but a little effort from megson could go a long way to improving things. next week last home game of a season which on the pitch has been a succes (ie higher finish, probably, to last season) will the players do a lap of the pitch after the game? not if it is seen as a lap of honour, but why not a lap of thanks to the supporters with megson carrying a banner thanking people for their support ? can not see it myself because of the potential for boo boys, so it is like admitting they have won.

Interesting time for Phil Gartside. Back him with funds to take it to the next stage of the plan, or get another chap in to continue the job. The club are aware of his PR failings (but seem to not want to do anything to help him, strangely) I think he'll take a "3rd way" option; give him some money and see how it goes in the first part of next season.
