I was on the fence about Megson up until this last week.Now I seriously doubt his capabilities of bringing about a change of style.We can all assume that it's great to be a Wanderer,but is it? We were told that this season we would be a more attractive team to watch.But looking in from the outside we are signing Megsons old boys and a player Pompey could'nt wait to get rid of.All in all it does not instill a lot of confidence in me that Megson can change us into an attacking,entertaining force to be reckoned with.

I now feel Megson is taking the club forward the players we are strongly linked with remind me of Bolton type players good solid honest profesionals, would be nice to add the likes of a Gudjohnsen to the mix but I would be happy with Knight/Davies/Bodde/Greening type of signings, I see big Sam is hanging about for a marquee signing and has again stated he will be happy with signing just 1 striker, does he think he can snare Anelka again :-) I really feel that Megson is strengthening the squad for the long term whereas Sam is looking for the headline signing, for me that was the root of a lot of problems when Sam left the club.

Tel ben played the ball to feet, none of this little dinks from our area to theres (Obrien) or heading the ball clear/half the pitch (Shittu).

 

Benjani is pretty quick something we are not blessed with and will add a different option to our attack and is also better than Vaz Te and Riga.

Come on mate he wasn?t that shit was he, not many shit players sign for Chelsea nowadays. I?d have him back.

I was not slagging Allardyce off, he brought some great days to the club, however for 18 months previous to him leaving his desire to sign big names was more as case of personal promotion and in my eyes was not in the best interest of the club, I was pointing out that he was doing the same at Blackburn and in contrast I think Megson is doing his best for the club and not himself.

Anyway, back to the thread, can Megson change our style... of course he can.

 

Will he? I think so, he seems a man of his word.

 

However I suspect in reality he's talking about attacking certain home games a bit more, I doubt we'll be going 4-2-4 at Old Trafford and the like. We have been pretty tentative in a lot of winnable home games the last 18 months and while he's been proved right to do that (we stayed up), I think he feels a bit more secure and more able to go for the 3 points more agressively now. Evolution, not revolution.

 

 

The last time everyone was bleating on about our style of play we ended up bottom after ten games with just a point or two on the board.

the side sam left us with was in Europe however there was plenty of old/knackered legs in that side that hadn't the fitness for another season at the top level, Speed, Campo, Stelios, Fortune, Tal, Pedersen and David Thompson.

Campo did a job that season and Stelios scored some important goals too, but overall yes, the team was aging and needed some new blood.

I don't think now that 'most of the fans' are on his back, and I don't think he'll be gone by Christmas. Like it or not, he's the manager of Bolton Wanderers and as regards the last two seasons he has done what was asked of him, Premiership survival. As I've said before, he gave a good interview in Extra Time, and if he's as good as his word, he's assembling his own team with hopefully the knock 'em about mentality we know and love.
