He'll be well up for it - Premiership, World Cup on the horizon - as long as he can deal with that Horwich chill, he's a shrewd signing.

I hope he plays himself into form by running John Terry ragged next week and smashing a hat trick past England.

A Foreigner, once a rising star, comming back from a career (and life) threatening illness, needs to resurrect his career in world cup year - sounds like and Allardyce signing :good:

It's what people have been asking for.

Sounds a decent signing i just hope he doesn't go the way of flopping or being discarded which any non UK player seems to do under Megson (common denominator somewhere) .

Jussi

Steinsson

Gardner

Cohen

There's 4 non-UK players who haven't flopped or been discarded.

Steinsson's not been discarded before that comes back at me.

I didn't say all, but the vast majority of non UK players don't seem to prosper under Megson. By the way Steinsson has being dropped, Cohen is injured so often he doesn't count, Jussi/Gardner are practically English.

We seem to sign decent players but i don't think Megson is capable of moulding any team (even if had Kaka and Ronaldo). Not an anti Meggo rant i just don't think he's any good as a manager.

So's chlamydia, but I don't want that.

ivor cuntic?

lets hope he gets the games to prove himself..unlike other players we have had in the past..

eg:

andranik

borgetti

riga

smolarek

makukula

etc..

Fair point, but surely we know enough about Riga?

Not all Megson's players, though. Therefore, John Thomas's common denominator has gone.

Only Borgetti & Smolarek didnt get enough chance out of them imo.

Andranik looked good away to Wigan once but after that was never good enough.

Riga is just rubbish full stop.

Makakula  Lets just put that down as a gamble that didnt come off!

Klasnic was one of the best players in a good league, not true of the players mentioned.

Andranik's hardly ripped up any trees at Fulham or on loan at Barnsley.

Makakula WAS one of the best players in Portugal for a very short spell.

Portuguese league is well below Germany, also Makakula only ever played one full season. Mak had potential, but never fulfilled it after he left Salamanca....usually due to injury. I wouldn't say he ever really proved himself, but that's more opinion than fact.

I have no real interest in the German league or particular knowledge of Makakula's career outside of Portugal. Like I said, for a very short spell (when he was at Maritimo) Makakula was a top player. This is based upon actually watching him (albeit on TV) rather than Wikidpedia, Championship Manager, YouTube or whatever people use to gauge players. What I said still stands.

Okay, so because an opinion differs from your own, that means it is based upon youtube or a computer game? Mak played half a season for Maritimo and scored for fun, but that was it.....half a season. Klasnic played well for Bremen for a number of seasons both domestically and in Europe, whilst playing for his national side. There is no comparison between their careers. Mak always had potential and could have been brilliant without his injury issues, but he was NEVER a proven player, whereas Klas was until his kidney gave up and ran away. I have watched Mak play numerous times, so let's not do the whole "we disagree so you must never have seen him" bit.

Think Klasnic will be a great signing for us.

If he can have the same impact as Fredi Bobic/Anelka we will be onto a winner.

Hopefully we can play him and Elmander together as a 2 up top partnership and 2 orthodox wingers (Taylor/Young lee/Ricardo).

I still think Johan will come good and competition for places up front (something he hasn't had for a while) can't be a bad thing.I think Johan running around chasing the ball isn't his game and him getting in the box all the time will improve his chances/goals ratio.

Where this leaves Kevin Davies remains to be seen unless he plays Davies with one of the other 2.

Shame we couldn't get another striker as well but we'll see how we go until till the next transfer window.

All in all glass half full in my household :drinks:

I was disagreeing with the bit where you said "Klasnic was one of the best players in a good league, not true of the players mentioned.". As I pointed out, Makakula was, for a very short spell and in a decent league. That's all, I know nothing of Klasnic.

If your encyclopedic knowledge of player's career is through following football rather than Wikipedia then fair play to you. You might be overqualified for here like!
