He is actually a canny loan signing. Much better than the other two main loan strikers over last couple of years.

He has the build, the strength and most of all the ambition - just as long as he stays fit (and he should be considering he has had all summer and more).

Just as long as he is used wisely (and hopefully a better candidate for starting line-up than Elmander, who could be used as a timley substitute to get his confidence up more than at present) instead of being a bench warmer.

This could be the kick-start we need for the this season :yahoo:

davies wide right?

Not sure about him playing there in a 4-4-2 but then again I'm not sure who we've got who could do a better job there?

Dunno much about this guy, but reading up on him I'm not impressed at all

Only scored international goals against minnows and doesn't seem to have been to revered at previous clubs

2nd rate signing on paper

I'm worried if this is the best we can attract

Hope I'm very wrong

for me its not important what he has done in the past, its what he does in the future what counts i will just throw one name in for good measure mario jardel lets not pre judge him.

Bagged 49 goals in 150 app for Bremen,i am looking forward to seeing him score a few for us,

seemed like a good un,well done Gaz :good:

i think its a better signing that beckford

Far better than Beckford. He has proven himself in one of Europe's big leagues (Germany is actually not bad at all) and at international level. The problem is, he is not a poacher-type goal scorer. He has had 1 season in his career where he got 1 in 2, which is a very good return, but usually he is the type to hold/pass/create and then bag a few goals along the way. He was the creative foil to Klose, but we needed the Klose type of player. Elmander has player the foil and when Megson has tried to get him playing as a lone striker it has gone badly wrong. I think Klasnic is a better lone-stiker than Elmo, but it's not his best role. I'm hopeful he'll do welll, but he and Elmo may be too similar.

Lets hope that works then

Can`t see why so many of you are so focused on the negatives here, must be some generaly depressed mood in Bolton or something?

Truth is you got yourself a good player. He had a poor last season so obviously he is a bit of a gamble, but here we are talking about a player who has experience of playing at a World Cup, European Championship and Champions League.

Far from being revered nowehere he was a fan favorite at Bremen. He was one half of the famous Klasnic-Klose attack that terrorised the Bungesliga defenders at the time when Werder where always among the title contenders. Obviously Klose was the better player of the two, but not by much, Klasnic (who is younger) was fast on his heels. The fans had him nicknamed Killer for his cool before the goal.

Then one year he started to play worse and worse and nobody knew what it was about until his kidney failed. Then it became clear it was no wonder he had been playing poorly as he had been playing with a dysfunctional kidney. So it took him another year to really come back after the transplant but once he started playing he got back relatively quickly scoring a couple of goals in the second half of the 2007/08 season in Germany and generaly looking good. Then also scored two important goals for Croatia at the Euros.

He could have stayed at Werder who offered him a contract extension, but moved on instead as there had been some sort of bad feeling left with the staff at the club who he belived should have discovered his condition earlier, plus he belived the coach had been overly critical of him when he had been playing with the condition. Something like that at least, I`m not 100% certain what exactly it was about.

His season in France was fairly poor all things considered, and I don`t know what was that about. Maybe it was the pressure as he had been expected to be a starr and carry the team, but it didn`t work out like that.

So yes between the kidney, the poor last season, the fact he has no Prem experience and so forth there are alot of uncertainities. But if there weren`t he would be a 15 million player and possibly out of range, not a freebie and willing to come to Bolton.

I`m telling you Klasnic on form is a class player. (Not world class, but easily international class.) And there were indications that he can be that player again.

PS, Prem is a tricky league to make the adaptation to, but the league which the most resembles it by physiciality is the German one and he shone in that one.

Yes he was a class act. Klasnic was the better technical player in the Klose/Klasnic partnership and he also moved better with the ball at feet. He has started this season scoring for fun and we need to give him the games to keep doing that. He was not the "type" we needed...but he's good.

Absolutely fantastic post Smuggler. I really cannot understand why people arnt happy with this signing. In a summer where the only player to give a real intrigue and excitement is Chung-Yong in a mix of steady Eddie's I cant see how an international striker of any decent quality european country would not evoke some interest. I too knew of this player from his time at Bremen and he was fantasic alongside Klose and almost won them the championship. When considered alongside Nugent (good record in the lower leagues but has proven isnt quite up to the task) and Beckford who could very well end up in a similar light to Nugent. Of the three I feel Klasnic had the best CV and therefore is the lowest risk and frugal bit of business. The german league bares great comparisons to the physicalities of the premier league and he has already netted three times for Nantes this season and is match fit

Im far from Megson's biggest fan but I feel he's signed a decent player here

I don?t care, it nice to have two people who come on here with a bit of optimism, it?s been a rare commodity on here in resent times, long may it continue

Indeed they both have good knowldege of our new mon, :good:

to me it seems a solid signing. He has the attributes of what we are looking for. Lets give him time to settle in before we judge him. It will take some preasure off elmander who might begin to shine.

azreal88 and Smuggler,

Would you care to share with us, how you formed these opinions of Klasnic?

By watching him play. Bremen were a very good team to watch when Klasnic, Diego, Klose, Micoud etc were in the side (not together, Diego was the replacement for Micoud when he went to Bordeaux. Plus seen him play a number of times in Internationals.

Pity Emana didn't sign after how you described him mate, i've seen quite a bit of Klasnic, i used to watch the Bundesliga show and he was a real gem at times for Werder , dunno if Megson will play him regular but i think we have a good player here.

Does this loan deal have a view to a permanent contract, i wouldn't like to see him go back to Nantes after having a great season for us.

Klasnic gets the thumbs up from me :good: Even though i would of prefered a striker who had a lot of pace or both.

Or both what? Legs? Testicles?

It is a shame about Emana as he would have provided a good option, though if Betis (who have sold a number of their better players) fail to be near the top of the league come Jan we may find he ends up here then. Betis are gambling on coming right back into La Liga and keeping a number of high earners, if they are not on track come Jan they will have to sell. Megson has tracked Emana for a while so I would assume we have not heard the last of that.

Klasnic, whilst no Bent or Cisse, is quicker than what we have. I'm trying to think who his pace compares to and I'm coming up with Diouf, so not lightning but not slow either. He also has quick feet and nice tricks, can score with either foot and has a real football brain. The question is how much has the kidney issue and his lack of form at Nantes taken out of him. I, for my piece, loved him at Bremen....was one of the best technical strikers in Europe. I really hope he gets a chance and takes it.
