November 5, 200916 yr Lads & Lassies... following on from the poppy thread... gonna do one of these for the chaps & chappesses going through hell out there... Support our troops can we make sticky please?
November 24, 200916 yr An item on the news - The gist of it seemed to be asking people not to send parcels because they"re holding up personal mail & to donate to service charities instead. I"m sure somebody more clued up than me, will explain better.
November 24, 200916 yr http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8377157.stm Maggie, I've two boxes here parcelled up and ready to go. Whats the crack?
November 25, 200916 yr My initial reaction was 'well bollocks to it' but thats just childish, but don't know what to do now.
November 27, 200916 yr Reet, Doris cant find the details of the box we sent last years to, I'm not keen on sending to a random charity warehouse for someone to rifle through and rob the Mach 3's, and the Army bosses can't be arsed, so after a meeting with the other elder involved they're going to the homeless.

A fine gesture, sir
November 27, 200916 yr Bolty is the other elder by the way Tis a shame for the lads on the ground who I'm sure are grateful of anything but family stuff is more important.
November 27, 200916 yr Why not send stuff to the soldiers in January instead, explaining that we've delayed it not to fuck the Christmas post up.
November 27, 200916 yr Sorry, I've been away all week, but my advice is to firstly ignore the MoD or alternatively to hang on til after Xmas when the rush has died down a bit.
November 29, 200916 yr Why not send stuff to the soldiers in January instead, explaining that we've delayed it not to fuck the Christmas post up. Traf, that is possibly the most sensible thing that has ever been posted on this site. You're nowhere as gormless* as people say you are.......... *I would like some praise for saying a word that is usually only used by Mothers in anger.

December 1, 200916 yr Praise???? You are more likely heading for a warning or at least Mod Preview young fellow-me-lad Just reporting on the BBC that the whilst it is hugely appreciated, Army don't want well meaning people to send parcels to our troops unless you know someone personally because the BFPO can't cope with the sheer volume further down the line on the ground (like filling helicopters to get it to the outposts), personal stuff may therefore get clogged up in the system and not arrive in time.
