Burnden Was Always Full

Featured Replies

Here's what to do to replicate that smell we so enjoyed:

1 Piss in a bucket.

2 Get all your mates to piss in the same bucket.

3 Pour a pint of black rough disinfectant in.

4 Leave it for a couple of weeks. Preferably in a warm place.

5 Bottle it just in time for Christmas.

6 Send it to your mates.

They'll really apreciate the thought, especially if they hellped in the manufacture at point 2.

Remember, it needs to be black rough, not domestor or anything posh.

Nostalgia clouds the memory.

While I will always remember Burnden with fond memories and will always get a flutter in the heart when I drive down Manchester Road, as time goes by you forget that the majority of time (in the 80's when I started going) it was an horrific shit hole, with depressing football, depressing crowds with folk moaning all the time (how times have changed!)

As someone else has mentioned you grow up and adapt, I take just as much enjoyment taking my son down to the Reebok, of course it's not the same but enjoyable nevertheless regardless of what's on offer in and around the stadium.

It's called growing up.

Mick, I think it is more like getting older, there aren't many come on here you would call 'grown up' :D , it is something I will never be accused of :p

Mick,

You are probably right...marriage and kids meant a change of perspective and allocation of funds...I realised that for me that going to the match was an all dayer....and after being at work all week, it wasn't something i wanted to do, i wanted to see my daughter grow up, not sta in a pub pissed and spending Sunday on the couch, when i should be doing things i will never get the chance to do again....

Ian,

Again spot on.

bobhats kids must be at leat 35 by now

Bobshats half right,

He's gone all pipe and slipper's.

Yes, standing in the freezer aisle and telling your missus that you're currently stood under the scoreboard. I do it every time I go there!

Never been in, never will. That used to be my playground and if I went it it would sour the memory. Sad I know but i dont give a fuck.

You're missing out on some great pictures of the old place. It's worth going just to see them.

I hate Asda, I hate the greeters, I hate the announcements telling me of today's offers, I hate the music, I hate their own brand stuff is inedible, I hate when someone presses that chicken noise by the eggs like I need reminding an egg comes from a chicken's arse, I hate having to fight past queues of people by the door desperate to purchase cigarettes & lottery tickets.

So I don't go to the Burnden supermarket. :D

no piss poor excuse stone cold facts..I have better things to do with my life than sat in some shitty boozer drinking ?1.40 pints of watered down piss all day, then jerking myself off to some piss poor boring as fuck excuse for a football team.....ask your winny why he don't bother anymore, he'd give you the same lines...

oh and ST....me and my missus aint into that swinging shit...if your comfortable with it in down town daisy hill...fine...but my missus just wasn't up for it although yours quite obviously was...

Do you wear comedy character socks?

Lets face it Reebok will never live up to Burnden! Its not just at Bolton. Man City, Cardiff, Arsenal, Sunderland etc. Never live up to the good old days!!

Get rid of the bloody fireworks, stupid dancers, annoying drummers, silly music!!

When was the last time you went to the match? I rarely go to my seat & even I know 2 of those have been gone for ages.

Must admit, when back home in Bolton , I visit the Burnden park store - park roughly where Lever End was, my old stomping ground, which I was a kid going with dad!

.

And, yes, no balls it is me pressing that chicken button!!!!

.

I just wish they would update the photos' a little, or even show a fresh set of photo's from Burnden Patk - the current set have been there since Asda took over from Wollies! (wasn't that about 5 years ago) and sick to death of seeing big sam with a creature on his face

Life goes on Bobcat, time and prioritys change, many of the points you make are valid and strike a chord with me however for me being a Bolton fan is about the match, the good the bad and the indifferent, your family have now taken centre stage and Bolton means little in comparison to what it once did, nothing to be ashamed about that.
