Right,

Some of you off here are more into the proper stuff than I ever will be but I found a couple of favorites that I like. Now then, I have taken the WW advice and bought myself a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and it is indeed rather nice but can I say it is better than a decent bottle of Rioja at half the price? I have to say no. Therefore have I bought a dud one (like all varieties will have) or do I try another bottle of the same or different? :pardon:

Very unique taste is Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

It comes down to taste preference between that and your suggestion of a good ?7 Rioja but one thing for sure, you should be able to taste the difference.

Have a maul, don't be soft & treat yourself. It's weekend!

Nowt wrong with Chateauneuf-du-Pape, infact a superb wine if you get it right. As NB says need to know year and origin, supermarkets tend to sell the shite one. I'm currently enjoying a bottle of Spanish Baron de Vallis @ Naira 800 (GBP 3.25) a bottle - pauper

Rule of thumb regarding wine. If the label has a picture on it then the wine is usually crap.

Not bad avdice that. My cuurent bottle doesn't have a fancy label and is alreet. Next question who was that woman who was always pissed with Floyd tasting wines on TV, she was alreet if I remember rightly.

Rule of thumb regarding wine. If the label says 13% or higher, just sup the cunt - it'll do the bizzo :good:

Nw you have confused me BHW, I thought CdP was from one region? The one I have is 2007. See, I am not a wine expert by any stretch, I just like a good bottle when I divulge in a tipple...

Don't get the whole wine thing. Over rated IMO and seems to produce truckloads of pretentious and opinionated wine ponces.

When staying with the eye tie relatives, they buy vats of cheap and rough red wine, decant it into resealable bottles and stick it in the fridge. Refreshing and drinkable in hot weather.

Other than that, and a strange liking for Shaw & Smiths Sauvignon Blanc (which I can't explain), I'm with MG. Strongbow beats any of em.

Cider's for wimmin.

I had a bottle of 1987 Mouton Rothschild last week - thoroughly disappointing; from this I deduce it's all pot luck.
