Matty Taylor

111238-glowing-green-neon-icon-business-thumbs-down.png

Let the team down today, he looks so nervous and has no confidence, 2 fantastic chances, the 1st he should fo scored but it went in to row z, then he should of brought down the ball and ran towards goal and score, but he shot when he had time and space?!?! why?

His freekicks were woeful and that cross near end summed up his game.

If we had someone else like Lee on the left side we would score more.

Replace for Gardner me thinks. He's not a bad player but he's just poor atm.

Elmander was only on for about 10 minutes and in that time, hardly got any service apart from a couple of mis-hit long balls. To say he was 'just not good enough' is a ridiculous thing to say.

Yes but don't let this get in the way of booing him and saying he is rubbish. A lot of fans make me laugh. Poor ball to elmander "why is he not chasing it. he is shit". Awful cross by davies "super super kev". morons!

Seems a lot of the blame has been placed on Taylor. Yeah, he didnt have the best game nor has he played well this season. The new man needs a bit of time to pull the weeds, he now will have a better idea than before. As we all know the problems are in midfield, it`s virualy none existant, McCan aint the answer but Coyle needs to take a look at the stock he`s inherited. The cup game will give him more of an idea as to where he needs to strengthen, all this takes time.

The first time he got the ball in Coyle's reign he was on the edge of the Arsenal box with a bit of time and tried a fancy flick that went straight to the opposition. He couldn't get rid of the ball quick enough and had no appreciation of what was going on around him.

But he's got no confidence.....that is because he knows he is a poor player playing at a level that is above his limited ability.

I can't agree more. It's ridiculous how much stick Elmander gets. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him and think he is poor. But some of the abuse he gets isn't warranted.

CORRECT

muamba is rubbish (i am being polite) he has no positional sense, cannot tackle or pass to a white shirt.

he has 3 years premiership experience, so don't say give him a chance,

the lad is just not good enough.

mark davis is the future.

Couldn't be further from the truth.

His tackling is exceptional and the way he breaks up play. He wins balls that he has no right in winning.

When he has the ball, that's a different matter.

But in his defence, like most Bolton players in possesion of the ball, has limited options. Our movement is poor at times.

ive only glanced throught the thread so sorry if some has been covered,

taylor is massivley low on confidence but NEVER stopped running. just need to find his feet again. gardner is not an alternative, totally different class of player!

steinsson did what steinsson does, plays reasonbly well then goes missing. ricketts isnt no different imo. lesser of 2 evils.

CYL, needs to get involved more.

zat knight was much improved, keep it up lad!

elmander can do no right, he'd did more running in 10 mins than klasnic did all game, yet people say he doesnt work hard? what a load of crap. he may be crap but you can not fault his effort.

the performance was decent enough attackingwise, another day we could have had 3 goals.

we where always going to concede goals with 2 man midfeild against arsenals 3.

id be suprised if coyle goes with 2 man midfield on wednesday. cohen and mumba gave them far too much respect gave fabregas far too time and space.

was the performance any different to what we got under megson? id say yes, just. not because of style of football, but because the players seem to play with less pressure from the crowd.

onward and upward (hopefully)

Spot on. :good:

Zat Knight had a much improved game. Again, like you said, less pressure from the crowd.

Horses for courses innit? We played yesterday in a slightly amended formation and style to Megson's reign, Taylor struggling because he lacks the pace to do the job likely to be asked for him. Doesn't make him a bad player (and if he'd put one of those chances away, no one would even be talking about it).

I suspect in the medium term, Taylor will go - and he'll go and do a good job somewhere else, like he has done for us in the past. Personally I'd play Gardner at the Emirates to give him a shot at it and so Coyle can see what he can do for 90 minutes. Non of this is a slight on Taylor, who I rate, even if he is out of form. But Coyle has openly said that he wants his wingers attacking and pushing the full backs back (see Chung Yong- Lee), which isn't Taylor's game.

As for the Elmander comments - well, we can pick out some bad control for every player on the pitch, but for some reason we just pick out the same old names to highlight. Anyone would have struggled to get in the game for final 10 minutes up front, especially when the team was losing momentum and looking a bit tired. Elmander will come good for us when we start playing more football and he gets more than a few minutes on the pitch.

I know I have 'form' with Elmander but his first touch on many occassions in those 10 minutes was shocking. His first involvement was a stupid attempt at a fancy flick to goodness knows who, another attempt to control a pass to feet ending up rolling up his chest and bouncing off his knee to an Arsenal player and as for comments about more running than Klasnic - what bulls*it. Klasnic was tracking back helping the midfield on many occassions but Elmander's chasing efforts where so short and useless that Coyle was off his seat giving him words.

If that bid from France has any truth in it, we want to take the money and get rid - no matter how low it is.

Elmander is a spent force and we're better getting rid now for whatever we can to boost the pot that Coyle has to bring in replacements. We can't rely on Elmander to keep us up this season but maybe the 2 or 3 million we can sell him for will help get a player that can.

apples and oranges here as fabregas attempted 3 times more passes (but so did arsenal over bolton, nearly)

fabregas

pass completion 83%

muamba

pass completion 85%

obviously the little cunts passes are far more creative but you cannot say muamba lose possession.

aye, i am probably a little unfair on klasnic, as youre right he did track back a couple of times this week. but its not his natural game and very rarely does it.

i'd like to see the mileage he covers, i bet its not a lot.

Fook the mileage he's covered. Stay up front son and stick the ball in the net.

When he has the ball I'm confident in him, something I've not had in our front men since Anelka left. His offside goal in the first 5 minutes is what we have missed. He did spurn a couple of chances, but he got himself in them positions.

Anelka didn't run around like a headless chicken either.

He did track back when he needed to and closed defenders down, do we need any more then that?

Taylor definitely covers the most ground, but slow with it and seems to be blowing out of his arse.

Gardner left back? He is off simular standard to Robinson/Samuel but can get forward. Gives us some much needed pace and options down the left were we had rock all. Prefer Samuel to Robinson just because he gets forward more.

Edited by The Norpig

Klasnic does work quite hard considering he's still clearly gaining match fitness.

I don't think Taylor will be here next season because I don't think he can do what Coyle wants of his wide players

Steinsson's use of the ball (especially crossing) was woeful yesterday and at times, LCY wasted possession also but he will improve I hope. I'd personally prefer to see Ricketts in ahead of Gretar as Ricketts is better going forward and there's nothing to choose between them defensively. Some people just like Steinsson because he claps the fans and puts in a hard tackle now and again.

And as for Samuel or Robinson, well, it's clear who has performed better this season in the games they have played, JLS can neither defend, pass, cross or indeed do anything that is required for a full back.

And for the life of me I hope we see as little as possible of McCann

We need somebody on the left with a bit of pace and trickery. The problem with Taylor is he is crap on the ball as well, he cant take it past anybody or play a decent pass. The left full back gives him the ball and he gives it them straight back almost every time which ends up in a hoof forward. On the right when CYL gets the ball he either takes it down the wing or looks up and plays it inside to a midfielder. Gardner isnt the full time answer due to injuries but i would prefer him there at the minute to add some balance. I think Cohen and Muamba is a good pairing in the centre.

And for the life of me I hope we see as little as possible of McCann

i think thats the only thing everybody agree's on..hes a good player.. but his form recently has been woeful

I am going to back Taylor again he worked his bollox of yesterday, had 3-4 chances created by his hard work, yes he did have a very poor game yesterday and has had an average season at best, what he needs his the fans to get behind him when things are not happening, oh and I have watched the highlights this morning and a couple of the chances/crosses he skyed the ball bobbled as he struck he ball.

normal service is resumed

have to have somebody to get stuck into

normal service is resumed

have to have somebody to get stuck into

Exactly, thats the Bolton fans way, soon as they get rid of one they pick on another.

We've always done it. So does every other team in and out of the top division.

The king is dead, long live the king.

its fcuking annoying cos i'm sick of hearing how 'we must now back coyle'

coyle makes a big thing of explaining 'we're all in this together'

then them telling me i have to back coyle start to pick out his players for criticism

it just doesn't add up

backing coyle means giving him time to pick his teams and us encouraging his players to perform at their best

seems pretty fcuking obvious to me, but no, lets rip the shit out of half yesterdays team

i think thats the only thing everybody agree's on..hes a good player.. but his form recently has been woeful

I don't thinke he is anywhere near being good!

I don't think this thread is negative, fans will always say "X didn't play well" or "I don't rate Y"

It doesn't mean we're not supporting the team

i disagree

its obvious folk go into games waiting, nay wanting, to have a go at x or y

fcuks sake, give it a rest
