its fcuking annoying cos i'm sick of hearing how 'we must now back coyle'

coyle makes a big thing of explaining 'we're all in this together'

then them telling me i have to back coyle start to pick out his players for criticism

it just doesn't add up

backing coyle means giving him time to pick his teams and us encouraging his players to perform at their best

seems pretty fcuking obvious to me, but no, lets rip the shit out of half yesterdays team

True that.

But... 'spectators' are going to single out their scapegoat.

The issues discussed are raised after every match.

We need somebody on the left with a bit of pace and trickery. The problem with Taylor is he is crap on the ball as well, he cant take it past anybody or play a decent pass. The left full back gives him the ball and he gives it them straight back almost every time which ends up in a hoof forward. On the right when CYL gets the ball he either takes it down the wing or looks up and plays it inside to a midfielder. Gardner isnt the full time answer due to injuries but i would prefer him there at the minute to add some balance. I think Cohen and Muamba is a good pairing in the centre.

not sayin this is even close to being enough, but the pass of the game yesterday was from mccann putting taylor clean through.

Some people maybe, I feel that Megson signings will be in for a hard time (other than Cahill and Klasnic).

I'll give people credit when it's due and criticism when it's due. Zat Knight is hardly a fans favourite but I didn't really hear any critcism of his performance yesterday despite the fans being on his back fir the last 6 weeks.

The only 2 players who probably can't win with some people are Elmander and Muamba

I agree with what you are saying in some ways.

But this thread is disucssing how players contributed yesterday which is fair enough.

I think what annoys you are those 'fans' who are not happy unless they have a scapegoat. For me yesterday Taylor was poor but he could have scored 3 times in which case the taylor for england brigade would be on here.

Pointing players that had poor games is a million miles from getting on the same players back during the game.

If you want the team to improve discussing the weakest player is part of that.

Muambe for me was miles better than cohen yesterday, others saw it differently, surely a board is about opnions and a pace for people to come so i can explain why i am right.

I though Knight did really well yesterday just a shame hes not reet good in the air..

Right. Taylor will not make a footballer as long as he has a hole in his arse. It's all very well saying he gets into positions for chances but if he doesn't put those chances away, what is the point. He can't run and it beggars belief how he stayed on the pitch for 90 minutes. Steinsson was woeful. He was at fault for the first goal. When under pressure in your own penalty area, launch the ball from the danger area, try and hit the moon. And who is the tactical genius who thought not marking Fabregas would be successful. Fabregas had the time and space to do what he wanted. And he should have had two penalties. Jasskelainnan and Knight both tripped him. If Megson had been manager yesterday there would have been boos going round the Reebok at the end of the game. On yesterday's evidence nothing has changed and unless some good players are recruited in this transfer window, we are relegated. Perhaps that is why Coyle was appointed, a championship manager for the championship.

Whats all this bullshit about fans picking a scapegoat? I supported the team for the full match yesterday and I would never boo a player no matter how poor they perform. People come on here to give their honest opinions about the performance and who played well or who played bad. Matty Taylor was terrible yesterday and has been poor all season, can we afford to carry an out of from player all season long? Steinsson had his 1st bad game for ages which fair enough it happens sometimes, the 2nd half he worked hard to improve and he did a bit. Mccann came on did an air kick and rugby tackled a player but also played a fantastic pass through to Taylor which should of resulted in a goal. Taylor has been poor this season and people are stating that because its the truth, theres no point pretending.

Overall i thought we played well and will pick up points against teams with a bit less class than Arsenal.

Spot on but...

...he doesn't hide when the chips are down!

He keeps getting into some great positions, even after the two great chances he fluffed yesterday, he came for more and had the right foot swinger late on that blazed over the bar.

That's why he stays on the pitch for 90 minutes - he offers a rare thing for our midfield - a goal threat.

Its just a shame he can't hit the bloody target this season from open play be it left foot, right foot or header.

:D

Can't believe the amount of criticism and negativity on here, I was expecting it to be very upbeat after what I considered to be a very good performance.

Only got to the 3rd page and got bored of the whinging so this may have been said but:

Whoever said Muamba can't tackle must be taking the piss, he is one of the best in the league at it, given that once he gets it he isn't brilliant but he can definitely tackle.

Whoever said Cohen was poor must have watched a different game to me, he was everywhere in the 1st half, constantly in the faces of their midfield and giving them no time on the ball, I thought he had a very good game.

The abuse Steinsson is getting is ridiculous, he was up against a VERY good and technically gifted Arsenal front 3, he didn't get the most cover from Lee (who did however have a very impressive match), and I still thought he had a very good game. He's getting a lot of grief for getting forward, but most full backs in the league look to attack, it's a very good way of attacking to have the full back support and overlap the winger and it was effective yesterday, it is then up to one of the midfield to drop in and cover.

Zat Knight was MOTM and if he can play like that week in week out then we don't need a new centre back, whether he will or not is highly debatable.

The only 2 bits of criticism would be that Taylor is bang out of form and could have won us the match, and McCann was poor when he came on.

Overall though is was very impressed and if we carry on playing like that then we will be comfortably mid table. Cheer up, you don't need to moan. :drinks:

Oh and to say that Steinsson was at fault for the first goal is very harsh, he won the ball on the edge of the area then slipped, hardly his fault.

If you're referring to what I said, then I was poking fun at what our beloved previous manager said.

Everybody supported the team yesterday. Threads such as this are where fans can pick the bones out of our matches and put forward their opinions. Otherwise what would be the fucking point?

Oh and to say that Steinsson was at fault for the first goal is very harsh, he won the ball on the edge of the area then slipped, hardly his fault.

When they scored, the whole of our defence was all over the shop, I don't think you can single one player out.

Steinsson was up against Arshavin who in my opinion is one of the top players in the.

Back to the point, Matt Taylor put more effort into this game than he was all season. This reinforces my thoughts that he wanted rid of Meggo and was actively persuing that agenda.

Steinson was bad I agree but Matty Taylor was dire from start to finish - his mistake that led to their first goal as well

He needs a rest and Gardner should get his chance back at his best position

Theres a simple answer in my view - bring Garnder in and move Taylor to left back. They should be able interchange/swap if required as both can play either roles. That way we also get to drop robinson, who is god awful, and dont have to bring in Samuel who lets face it isnt great either. That way as well you still have taylor on for set pieces. Its impossible for him to be any worse at LB than the other 2. He has played their in his career 2, he wasnt always a left midfielder

We are the first team in over 30 years to go half a season without a clean sheet, the reason being that nearly everyone of our defenders isnt up to it. All four full backs - Steinsson, Ricketts, Robinson, Samuel - not good enough. O brien, shittu, knight- not good enough. We're going to be fighting to scrape 38-43 points every season with these calibre of defenders. Does anyone else notice the amount of space stenisson gives the winger - he never seems to mark close when theres a free kick on other side, cue ball being switched loads of space for winger to run at steinsson and danger. Happens nearly every game.

As for the midfielders, the centre offer little protection either to the defence either. Time and time again opposing midfieldes just drive through our midfield like a knife through butter. I was one for giving muamba a chance at the start of the season, hes had more bad games than good though in my view (at home, i havent been to any aways yet though going to anfield next week). Numerous times hes out of the position. He does well when he purely man marks a player - ie Gerrard both seasons i thought he marked well, especially this season the 1st half - followed him everywhere and you could see gerrard getting annoyed. The red card gave gerrard more space. When hes got no set role, hes not good enough. Awful touch and distribution. Mccann isnt the answer, too slow, past it. Awful - he shouldnt be near the pitch. Cohen has won the ball a fair bit in many games, can certainly put his foot in. I would play him in the deeper and introduce either Mark Davies or Gardner (if Coyle doesnt like the idea of moving Taylor to left back) as well. Put the priority would be to get in a decent centre midfielder.

My team

Jaaskelainen

Steinsson

Cahill

Knight

Taylor

Cohen

M Davies

Chung Young

Gardner

Davies

Klasnic

A new centre half, centre midfielder the priority in my eyes. Also a better right back, sell either ricketts or steinsson and get some1 different in.

Welcome and what a very lengthy first post.

Has it taken you 5 months to compose that?

5 or 10 mins! took me a while to sign up - being viewing the posts for a while though

been thinking bout this

if Coyle wants to play two wingers - CYL and whoever, this Weiss lad from Citeh, or maybe Gardner, that'd mean the middle would need shoring up a bit more

so Taylor and Muamba in the middle, would it work? Taylor could do a decent spoiling job and harrasing, plys he can still deliver the ball out wide and up front

might just work i reckon

can matt taylor defend, i'd say no.

therefore he should not be at left back

simples.

to say taylor is a better defender than 2 players who have played there all their career is ridiculous.

Go and get some sun Biff I think your vitamin D levels need replenishing. That performance especially the 2nd Half was light years ahead of previous performances, Taylor will continue to score his normal 8-10 goals from midfield, the run for the shot he took first time was top quality and nearly every time we had a 1/2 chance it was Taylor who got on the end of it, not bad for someone who cannot run. as for the rest of your post and I do not like to say it but I will, utter drivel.

Mounts I admire your unwavering support for Bolton but you must take off those white coloured glasses and see them for what they actually are. So Taylor gets on to the end of nearly every 1/2 chance but never hits the target. Therefore he is no better than me sitting in the stand. Taylor doesn't want the ball. Every time someone passes to him he gives it straight back and invariably they are in a worse position than him and immediately under pressure. The team as a whole are completely static, they don't anticipate passes and only start to move for the ball after the pass has been made. Kevin Davies is the worst culprit in this. If there is any drivel it is coming from you.

As some are picking teams. My team based on current players is:- Jaaskelainen, Ricketts Cahil K Davies Robinson, Lee M Davies Muamba Gardner, Klasnic Elmander.

Ooh, SKD at centre back. That'd be controversial! That said, he's often the second best defender on the pitch after Cahill!

could he be worse than knight?

we've got grater issues/problems than taylor. Like having awful full backs, like having an awful centre back partner for cahill (whoever plays), like having a central midfielder(s) who dont protect the back 4 properly.

I also agree with the poster who said our players r static - the movement off the ball is non existant at times
