Rub Of The Green

how much more bad luck are we going to get before it turns our way, 4 games 4 decisions against and each one crucial at that,on top of all that our strikforce isnt striking either, lets hope it turns in next match ...keep everthing crossed.....

i dont believe in luck.

i do believe in shit footballers and i do believe in shit referees.

I agree entirely Mr Jay.

Arsenal we're lucky

Cahill was unlucky

Tevez was lucky - Jussi was unlucky

Man City we're lucky they got a freekick and Bolton we're unlucky not to get the penalty.

Bad luck, mistakes and pathetic refs cheating us out of points is costing us at the moment.

Turning points are also not going in our favour! for example Jussi letting Arsenal back in the game when we we're 2-0 up very close to half time. Also if we got the penalty against Man City and scored then who knows what may of happened.

franny lee once said (just before he sacked his own nephew) `you can only keep blaming bad luck for so long`.

and he was right, its got fuck all to do with luck and everything to do with another toothless performance.

it really is clutching at straws to start micro-analysing decisions. yes we should have had a penalty against citeh but we hardly had an effort of any note for the whole match. truth is they beat us without getting out of 1st gear.

we`re poor, we really are. i never thought we would go down this year, i really didnt but in light of recent events of the last month or so i`m beginning to wonder. sammy lee anyone?

We have got four more points since OC took over than I would have expected under Megson. If we do go down- and it's still a big "if"- it will be down to the fact that Megson gave us a poor start and a poor squad.

On the subject of refereeing decisions, Kevin Davies is never going to get the big decisions ifn his favour. With his statistical track record, referees will always scrutinise his every move. Unless he is 100% squeaky clean and the referee can clearly see that his hands are nowhere near another player, things just aren't going to go his way. All any player marking/being marked by Kevin Davies needs to do is fall over and they will always get a free kick in their favour. I can't fault his work rate or his through balls, but I wonder if there is an alternative. Someone who can outmuscle opposition defenders and hold the ball up whilst support arrives. Unfortunately, all the other options seem a little too lightweight for his usual role, and his reputation will prejudice refereeing decisions more often than not.

Under Coyler or Megson i would've expected 6 points from Burnley and Flum.

We need to stop worrying/moaning/complaining/stressing about things that have happened and concentrate on games that we still have to play.

If we paly well til lthe end of the season we will stay up if we do nt we will go down and probably bust.

Theres an old saying that when youve got one foot in the past and one in the future, you piss on the present.

Watching Davies the other night highlighted the task Coyle faces, at the moment I think we've got a 30% chance of going down. This may have been 20% under Megson but supporters didnt want the club run on matematical or financial equations, we cant have it both ways.

Neither did they! It was a crap match, which they won with a lucky pen (not the decision, the actual taking) and a route 1 smash-n-grab. Yes they beat us when they played bad. That's why we're at the bottom and they're challenging for 4th!

I didn't expect anything from City before the match. At half time, and 1-0 down, I thought we COULD get something (as we'd done pretty well up to the penalty) but we didn't play second half. A loss - what I expected before the game so I'm not annoyed.

Owen Coyle has lost FOUR games... City AWAY (where they've not lost and only drawn three), Arsenal home and AWAY (not entirely unexpected) and Liverpool AWAY (again, top four challengers). Megson would have lost all these games AND played badly doing so. At least we've seen some nicer football and glimmers of hope in that time under Coyle.

The most disappointing thing so for by OC as far as I'm concerned is failing to beat a very poor and under-strength Fulham side. Technically, we did beat them (as KD's goal SHOULD have stood) but we can't go moaning about the "rub of the green" as other clubs have the same crap refs week in week out. We need to make our own luck and not rely on single goals to decide the outcome.

I am actually starting to side with Megson here! Bolton fans just need something to moan about, and to be honest it's starting to wind me up! No wonder he looked bloody miserable all the time!

The more real chances we create in the opponents box the more "Luck" we will have and the more decisions will go our way.

complete and utter nonsense imo

do you honestly believe there has been mass changes in style under the new manager?

i have no doubt that the style will change eventually, no matter what league we are in. but to say its already happened in complete codswallop!

the biggest changes under coyles short tenure, are the fact that knight actually looks like a footballer now and our defence has improved. but thats not completely a manager thing, its a less pressure from the crowd thing imo.

anyway, losing is losing.

happy, what the fuck happened to my post!?

Yes I do. Have you watched any games since Coyle took over? (genuine question, I can only assume from your post that you haven't)

Our midfield play has improved tenfold... They actually touch the ball these days, and not just to try and get it off the opposition.

which isnt far off the long ball philosophy.

the stats say otherwise i think you'll find.

:nea: :nea: I'd be interested to know which players in our midfield you think have improved TENFOLD. Cohen, definately not, Matty Taylor, no chance, Muamba, to inconsistent to say he's improved,YC Lee,he does some good things, but has he improved under Coyle, hardly. Can't include Wilshere. So where have you seen tenfold improvement.

the stats say otherwise i think you'll find.

What stats and from where?

What stats and from where?

If your looking for stats visit opta's website. And i agree with waffer, Cohen and Taylor both played shite, Muamba is still unable to pass as ball, and lcy is unable to cross a ball. Maybe now with Wilshere starting and Wiess playing we will see an improvement in midfield. But to say our midfield has improved tenfold is rubbish..

and we get battered every game. you get fuck all for nice passes in the middle of the park. we are sadly lacking someone with a cutting edge. elmander (megson signing i know!) is absolutely FUCKING SHIT. Please someone tell me what his strength is? He can`t pass, tackle, shoot, he isnt particularly fast or tenacious, he doesn`t hold the ball up and he hasn`t even got any bollocks. he got in a tangle with one of the shitty players and went out of his way to apologise and pick him up. what he should have done was to send the bastard flying into row Z not dust him down and pat him on the fucking arse.

I`m really not prone to emotional outbursts but fuck me its shite, theres people in that squad who should be ashamed to pick up their wages

How many goals do you get for kicking a player on the floor into row Z? There are a lot of shite players around if that is the criterion for being a good player.

some peoples idea of the game of football and what consititutes a good or bad player baffles me, it really does.

some peoples idea of the game of football and what consititutes a good or bad player baffles me, it really does.

So having seen the game over the weekend, do you still think our passing game hasn't improved? And we didn't even have Wilshere or Weiss in the team either. Same players as Megson had, but 200% of the performance quality... so in short, your idea of the game of football, and what constiutes good or bad play baffles me...

It looked very similar in style to the draw against the same opposition earlier in the season under Megson.

Don't let facts get in the way of it.
