Thinking of having this done. Anybody been through the process and can recommend?

?395 per eye with a ?200 discount seems pretty reasonable compared to the rate I lose my prescription glasses & sunglasses.

Nothing to pay til next year and 10 months 0% interest.

One of my sons had it done about 3 years ago and my sister has had it done,both of them say they wish they had had the op years ago. I think it cost both of them about ?1k each cos they had what they called the "less pain version"

my mate had it done in both eyes and he said he had little discomfort and wish he would of had it sooner.i think he paid ?340 for each eye dont quote me on that, not sure were he had it done, i can find out if you want

imagine if it's that cheap it will be PRK/lasek. they laser through the eye surface which damages it

 

lasik - they lift an outer flap and laser underneath - much quicker recovery

 

the procedure itself is much like a visit to the dentist - it wasnt painful but the smell was offputting

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the price went up dependent on how bad your sight was, etc.

Mine isn't that bad, but would love to be able to see my team-mates when playing football, etc!

My eyesight was 2.5 dioptres I think. Summat like, up to 6-8 is fine as "standard" so you should be a standard job

See this is what I have been told also.

Not horror stories.

Just that its a relatively new process that nobody really knows what the long-term outcome will be.

It was a medical professional who advised me against it and said that there were far too many doctors and medical professionals still wearing glasses - so that was the proof in the pudding!

I wear contacts and would like to have the laser eye thing done one day. Going to give it a good few years though before I do. Hopefully they will have perfected the surgery by the time I reach 30.

Having it done at optical express on the 29th April - Dr Osama (maybe I should be wary). I also spoke to a doctor friend of mine, said the only real issue is of it not working, or of getting excessive dryness but that's why you have to have a certain tear duct reading. Going blind isn't really the issue.

 

It doesn't stop the ageing of the retina so you will probably need glasses for reading when you get older, as many people do but considering I'm blind as a bat, I'd rather start off being 20/20 at 32 than -7.0, otherwise I'll need a stick in my 50s.

Not but as a doctor in the filed she probably has access to more information on this than most people.

My ex bird had this done (probably why she buggered off once her eyes were reet).

 

She said normal vision was ok but her night vision whilst driving was not great, the glare from oncoming headlights used to affect her really badly and she had to wear some of those yellow tinted glasses for driving at night. Might be worth asking about it before letting some loon with a laser pointer at your eyeballs.

Prices rise according to your (lack of) sight.

 

I went in and had the consultation but the price became ?2k for cheap and ?2.5k for dear versions. Now, who's gonna choose cheap?

 

Fucked it off in the end, shouldn't advertise those prices when they can be so far out.

 

Oh and after a few years your sight will deteriorate again, it's like having a reset I guess.

 

Gonna give it five years myself, treat myself to a mid life crisis present. When a bit more is known about the long term effects etc.
