Kids In The East Upper

Firstly, gutted, 4-0 is enough to make any whites fan pissed off.

However my disappointment is added to this evening after we, family group of 10 of 3 generations, were abused by a few of our own fans. For the first time this year we have taken up the offer of taking the kids along and getting them season tickets, kids ranging from 5 - 13. We did debate the family stand, and some may think that is where we should be, but as I said 3 generations of grandparents, parents and kids so it seemed the best option to suit everybody. Now anybody who takes kids to the game knows its not easy, you need a bag full of treats, concentration span for the younger end doesn't last long so a few toys to keep em entertained during the less exciting spells. Again questions may be asked why on earth take them, are you just dragging em along as a creche sitting so you can watch the game? I genuinly believe we don't, they all love Bolton, they have the kits, the merchandise, and their favourite players and its a great experience for them coming down to the Reebok. Start em young, they are our future, they enjoy coming down and its important they get the Bolton bug young and stop the dreaded altenative of following the filth. Up till today we've enjoyed it and we feel its worked well. But at 0 - 3 today, ok I admit the kids had lost a bit of interest and while they weren't anywhere else other than the vicinity of their seating area just being a bit giddy, a grumpy old man bellowed at them to stop messing about and was joined by a couple of others who said its not a creche and you shouldn't be here, there were also folk who backed us up and said we were doing no harm. The boiling point came when a 20 odd year old offered me and my mate downstairs - now this for me is where it crosses the line. Tonight we have all 3 generations upset with talk of not going next week and considering what we do next year.

I am genuinly interested to know what the views of fellow Wanderers Wayers are on this topic

  • Eyup cocker. Taking aside the coward who offered you out, here is the right answer.   Young kids fucking about and being an annoying nuisance to those around against Utd is a no no.   Its not a d

People, take photos of these fuckers, we'll have no problem with naming and shaming them.

Who too,not the Old Bill i hope

Regards to the lad who asked two of you outside. Have a look for him next week, and introduce yourselves as the lads he offered out last week. Ask if the invitation is still open. He'll fucking shit his pants!

Regarding kids at games, ours have been coming with us since they were about 4 and 3. Plenty of sweets and stuff, plenty of talking to them too. Make sure they know what's going on on the pitch so they're not just watching 22 blokes leg up and down with a ball.

Learn that the gates don't open until 10 minutes before full time so if they want to go and kick a cola bottle around, go under the stand and kick one around.

As fate has it Mickey, the idiot will think he's initially come out on top. I'm at a Wedding next Saturday so my Mum (who is one of the grandparents who sits in our group) is only taking our eldest lad - who at 7 sits watching the whole game no prob. Desperado was / is planning on taking his youngest and his Mrs but she is not overly keen now in sitting in a possibly intimidating area - so they might shift to NSU.

The following game against Portsmouth, Desperado and his 3 generations are sat elsewhere - so once again all of us won't be there BUT I'm hoping to give the spares to one of my mates and his kids.

I've got the line ready for the knob who asked us out, "just staring at you, so I remember your face when I'm out and about with my mates rather than being at the game with my children"

Alter your speech to:

just staring at you, so I remember your face when I'm out and about ON MY OWN rather than being at the game with my children

Don't have him thinking it's a "mates" thing otherwise it'll end up messy and all about who has most mates with him at the time.

I'd have let it stir up a bit more and let Yatesy take a kicking off the young lads

this sort of behaviour is why they don't normally let this game kick off at 17.30 of a Saturday

I think I know what you mean though!

It wasn't you MG was it :D

Cheers for all your thoughts on this. Joking aside it's not my intention to name and shame and shop anyone to the Old Bill, I simply wanted to gauge reaction and I feel there has been a pretty balanced view. I see the argument of fight fire with fire and I may be tempted with this if it wasn't the fact that we go with family and the kids, the last thing I want to do is make things worse. Yatesy I will leave you with the "stares" to the young lad! (although if it was me seeing him first I would be tempted to just ignore him) Next week I have decided to transfer to NSU as I am taking the wife and youngest and she doesn't want to feel intimidated if we get the same reaction. When it comes to the last home game, which is when the original gathering are together again hopefully things will have calmed down and been forgotten and we will take stock then before deciding where to get our season tickets for next year.

One things for sure we won't be put off coming down and our support will remain, as I am sure, after reading your thoughts on here, the majority of fans would have been more tolerant in the same situation.

That could depend on whom I take in your place for the Portsmouth game!! :vava:

Seriously though mate, your youngest is younger than ours and so you have longer to get him through to the age when they sit happily watching most / all of the game. That will be the major factor in the decision for next season and where to sit.

As mentioned by MickyD I think, this is the problem with all-seater grounds - the kids can't just mess about at the front of the Paddock with a plastic bottle when they get bored. Many fans will tolerate this but those who want to sit just like they would at the theatre or cinema, will not and it now would appear that we have a few sat behind us.

Hopefully, it is down to the emotions of playing United at home and all will have died down next week. Are all of you moving for the Villa game or jsut your direct family?

Why not? I don't give a fuck, someone who is offering out people at the game with their kids wants gassing never mind prosecuting. Do us all a favour, it's for the greater good.

Yes the dicks who were giving the lad greif was out of order but gassing is wrong, even worst to the football coppers who are wankers

To be clear I do mean gassing not grassing.

Edit: I don't even know who our football coppers are now, the last few have been bent and are behind bars aren't they?

For the record, I agree with Carlos. Folk baiting a bloke with a child should not be hidden or protected by anyone with even the slightest morals.

I'm sure some folk think there's still a place for a bit of toe to toe fighting under the pretence that it's all about football supporting. I don't but, that said, I believe there is honour among the thugs that take part in this 'sport'. There are very few rules but I'm pretty sure that one is "Only among consenting folk" another, "Don't pick on the scarf or football top wearers", "Don't attack a bloke with kids."

Or maybe I'm totally wrong and there are no rules any more.

What is it with the Old Bill they will twist it and lie they always do,these lads want a good shoeing to that this is no doubt, bang out of order in my book

but it just the society we live in now days and you are gonna get this in football,i've had enough of the dicks in ESL tbh and will moving next season

go to the next game and see if there still there... I reckon there is a good chance they only showed up for the united game..

aye but you assume the person kicking off is a "thug" and not some angry kid who has had a few too many and got pissed off and taken it out on someone nearby, preferably a soft target

you're giving the official hooligans a bad name there

I'd say the lad in question is giving himself the bad name. As I said earlier, he ought to know that his persona may change once he's had a couple of beers. He should, consequently, either accept it and expect a few knocks on the way to getting pissed or stop drinking and remaining a nice football supporter.

go to the next game and see if there still there... I reckon there is a good chance they only showed up for the united game..

That's the plan but I'll have to leave that to others in our group as I'm at a bloody wedding!

What will not have gone away though, is the grumpy old man who started all this by having a right rant-and-rave about our kids not sitting perfectly still for the full game! He will still be there spouting his negative thoughts every 2 minutes and thus, even if the thug from Saturday has disappeared - his place will soon be taken by another numb-skull.

Recently took my 5 year old to a couple of games; coke, treats and a few crayons and paper. Not easy though, wriggling around, sliding under seats etc. Didn't help that the games were cack, but, even in a game like United, with a lot of tension there's no excuse for that behavior from a supposed grown man- we were all kids once.

I remember kids kicking around at the bottom of the terrace: you could watch them and still see the game, but that's gone now. Consequently I'll not take mine back for a good while, hopefully he'll want in again as he gets older, but if not that's football's loss

Incidentally, if it were me, I'd have been sorely tempted to chin the bastard there and then; you should be medalled for not doing

Kids belong in the family stand IMO.

If you don't want them exposed to "drunken adult behaviour", then don't take them in the open areas. It's not a fucking creche.

To be fair to the OP Traf, he has considered this and I would also be of the same opinion if we were talking about the ESL but this is the upper tier FFS. Kids get bored at football, even those that are really into it; they just don't have the attention span hence the kicking the coke can round the bottom of every terrace in Burnden. :pardon:

Fair enough, that's what I am doing for the next game.

If I hadn't met you Traf, I would be half thinking that you were the knob sat behind us - as they were his exact words! :D

As Desperado has mentioned, our group of 11 is splitting up on Saturday - he is taking his young(er) family into the family stand and the those of us with older kids (7 years +) are going as normal to our seats in the ESU. Observations will be made to see if the knob is there again or if it was a United game part-timer!

could you not have gone down stairs with him and give him the good news in the gents job done :pardon:

i cant speak on it because i have never taken any young uns to the match on my own, but are all parents experiencing struggling to keep their kids entertained for the match?

when i started watching bolton i was 5, and the only thing i was interested in was watching the football, is it the quality of the home games?

Kids belong in the family stand IMO.

No, it's not a creche, a creche is somewhere you leave the kids and go off to do something else (other than parts of Cheshire where it's a collision between two cars). I take my two youngest to the match, I used to sit in the east lower, since taking the kids I have sat in the north lower, there will be behaviour in the ESL that is unsuitable for kids (in my opinion). Don't get me wrong, they hear plenty that I wouldn't want them to repeat in the north lower, but they are under no illusions as to the consequences if they do. I don't expect people around me to be saints just because I have kids with me, equally I would expect most decent people to respect that there are children about.

next time, do it against someone shite, and there won't be a problem

kids can have a whole row to themselves against Pompey
