However my disappointment is added to this evening after we, family group of 10 of 3 generations, were abused by a few of our own fans. For the first time this year we have taken up the offer of taking the kids along and getting them season tickets, kids ranging from 5 - 13. We did debate the family stand, and some may think that is where we should be, but as I said 3 generations of grandparents, parents and kids so it seemed the best option to suit everybody. Now anybody who takes kids to the game knows its not easy, you need a bag full of treats, concentration span for the younger end doesn't last long so a few toys to keep em entertained during the less exciting spells. Again questions may be asked why on earth take them, are you just dragging em along as a creche sitting so you can watch the game? I genuinly believe we don't, they all love Bolton, they have the kits, the merchandise, and their favourite players and its a great experience for them coming down to the Reebok. Start em young, they are our future, they enjoy coming down and its important they get the Bolton bug young and stop the dreaded altenative of following the filth. Up till today we've enjoyed it and we feel its worked well. But at 0 - 3 today, ok I admit the kids had lost a bit of interest and while they weren't anywhere else other than the vicinity of their seating area just being a bit giddy, a grumpy old man bellowed at them to stop messing about and was joined by a couple of others who said its not a creche and you shouldn't be here, there were also folk who backed us up and said we were doing no harm. The boiling point came when a 20 odd year old offered me and my mate downstairs - now this for me is where it crosses the line. Tonight we have all 3 generations upset with talk of not going next week and considering what we do next year.

You may be right, it's something we talked about last night. Although it really would be a shame, we have great seats bang central on half way line and the elder generation have had those seats for years and don't want to move, but if that's the sacrifice we have to make so be it. The reason for posting the topic on here is to get views like this and you wonder whether you are in your own bubble looking after the rug rats and I do keep thinking without kids what would my stance from the other side have been? But I consider myself pretty tolerant, I mean I don't have a problem with the thug behind me shouting and swearing (apart from when it was personal against us!)we have all done that at the game, I have more of a problem with the grumpy fool who has nothing positive to say at all, but again we have tolerated that and I have bitten my tongue on a number of occassions, so I suppose I was hoping the same tolerance would be shown of others.

 

But I do take your point emotions high against the filth, perhaps seeing a lofty toy being thrown up in the air was the final straw for the thug and grupmy old fool

The problem once again as I see it is all seater stadiums. In the old days kids having a kick about or similar at the foot of the stand never seemed to bother anyone. Sitting down makes it more like going to the cinema and I suppose the question is would you take your kids to a film that you suspect would outlast their attention span and if it did do you think it would be acceptable for them to mess about during the performance.

 

I'm not making a judgement here because I firmly believe that children should be brought through the ranks. The question of when they start and with what matches depends pretty much on the children and their parents. It's not like school when everyone starts at the same age regadless.

I'm the "mate" involved in the family group off 11 and just to add Mounts - we've all got season tickets, so I understand your points but not sure if we can / should be moving to the North Stand for certain games.

 

Thinking back now, the morning after, its the knob 2 rows back that offered me and Despardo "outside" who I am concerned with. I tried to calm the situation with the grumpy old man after the game, and think he understands now to just tap me on the shoulder when the kids are getting to active from now on rather than letting it build up before a rant starts. I do think it was emotions high last night with such an unfair score line.

 

As I said though, the lad who offered us "outside" is so typical of some of today's uneducated youth. If their point of view is argued against, they don't have the mental ability to continue the discussion and can only revert to threats of violence. I'm hoping that he was tanked up from an afternoon of drinking and will return to his quiet self next Saturday.

 

With me being at a wedding, my mum was going to take her two grandsons but after last night I think we'll play it safe and our youngest wil stay with his other grandparents.

 

Does that mean the knobs behind us have won...let them think so - but it will be for one game only!!

What pees me off is those filthy red, well yellow and green bastards is the fact they dont sit down, I got told by a steward to sit down even though my seat is on row Z. It`s about time the football authorities got this sorted, a seat means to sit in and not to stand in front of. Those Manure fans believe they are a law to themselves and they have this devine right to do as they please regardless.

As yesterday I too sat in the east stand upper tier and I too was set upon by a grumpy old irish man, who asked a steward to remove me from the ground for being a United fan!!!

When I asked this man why he thought I was a United fan he said that he had never seen me sat their before. This much is true because I've sat in the North stand lower for 10 years.

Anyway good old Mr Steward came to collect me and launch me out of the ground, now at the time we're 3 down to the team we love to hate so I wasn't in the best of moods anyway. As the steward came over I stood up turned around to the guy who'd told the steward and revealed my BWFC tatoo and yes I admit I was out of line for the things I said to him after that but hey not everyday I get given abuse for being a red.

 

I got no apology from the old git and was told to leave the ground. On leaving the ground the steward actually apologised for the fact I had to leave!!!

What a complete joke.

I was to go with my dad when I was 3 and run up and down the terraces to let off energy.

Regards to the lad who asked two of you outside. Have a look for him next week, and introduce yourselves as the lads he offered out last week. Ask if the invitation is still open. He'll fucking shit his pants!

 

Regarding kids at games, ours have been coming with us since they were about 4 and 3. Plenty of sweets and stuff, plenty of talking to them too. Make sure they know what's going on on the pitch so they're not just watching 22 blokes leg up and down with a ball.

Learn that the gates don't open until 10 minutes before full time so if they want to go and kick a cola bottle around, go under the stand and kick one around.

Hopefully when the guy who offered desperado out sobers up today, he will realise what a cunt he was and offer his apologies next time he sees him.

Ale isn't an excuse. If he's 20 year old he'll have been drining for 3 or 4 years. If, during that time, he figures that drinking makes him want to fight then he has two choices; drink and fight but expect a kicking ocasionally or stop drinking because you can't take it.
