That great big 188bet sign on the side of the stadium.

It's bigger than the fuckin club badge!

"welcome to the reebok stadium, the home 188bet"

disgusting

Why's it disgusting? It's the club's main sponsor.

Well, 188Bet is stopping a few thousand people attending the games now they've run out of other excuses for not going!

Alternatively, and with maybe a bit extra cash spent, you could make roads which, while not wide enough for 2 lanes in each direction, are certainly wide enough for three lanes. Have a tidal flow lane in the middle. During morning rush you get two lanes into town and afternoon rush two lanes out of town. instead we get bottlenecks every couple of hundred yards!

The exrtra cost would be on steelwork for a gantry every 50 yards or so with a red cross and green arrow system. Most large cities use this system and if Bolton Council are serious about their annual city status attempts, they need to start doing things in a way the big cities do.

fuck me that'd be even more expensive than making it 4 lanes wide, you'd have to run cables the full length of the road and build the gantrys and that still not included the hassel of dealing with junctions, bust stops etc

Plus could you imagine the whinging in the Bolton News if we whacked a load of gantrys outside peoples houses on Bury road.

The TRL have doene research into tidal flow lanes and they end up accident black spots outside of rush hour as people get in the tidal lanes at the wrong time and meet someone coming the other way.

unless accompanied by someone who works for a living the unemployed and pensioners should only be allowed on the roads and in town centres during the week from 9:30 til 16:30 and 18:30 til 07:00 both weekends and week days.

children unless physically disabled should either have to walk or get public transport to high school and unless attending a special school primary school children should have to attend schools within walking distance. Rush hour traffic would be improved instantly.

Believe me Frank, since leaving work I have no desire whatsoever to travel into the centre of Bristol at anytime let alone rush hour. Most people I mix with think that as well.

Rush hour/city centre or golf course/pub - you work it out

Frank, I know you have regularly been (unfairly) accused of being a leftie yoghourt knitter when in fact you are probably only a pale shade of red (fook me, that would be pink!).

Notwithstanding all of that old b0llocks, not only would I vote for you but I would return home if you could promise bust stops around every hundred yards along major road arteries :good:

what's the idea of stopping right turning traffic from Bradford road onto St Peters way? I can usually see what they ae tying to achieve with different road schemes, but cant work out any benefit from this.

They had to put a green man crossing on the slip road and the only way to do this without an all red phase on the junction and causing carnage was to ban the right turn.

not quite sure why they had to put the green man crossing on in the first place though.

Thanks, and no, as you said, these things usually in response to accidents to justify, not sure if that many people have been knocked over crossing there, but I may be wrong. plus surely they could've linked the crossing to a left turn and right turn filter, allowing straight on traffic to carry on as normal? thus not needing an all red phase? Is the crossing just for the slip road?

im gonna add

1. the old chap behind me, who constantly slates muamba proclaiming "he's a a bad un, who offers nothing to the game"

2. the bloke who sits next to me who was 10 mins late because he had been watching manu v chelsea.

That junction is massively over capacity as it is and there some incredibly fancy computer systems in manchester that put together all the modeling for traffic signals and a team of people who spend their entire working day designing traffic signal junctions, i bow to their knowledge on this sort of thing and we just do as they tell us.

yeh, fair play, wasn't questioning you, just thinking out loud really, :good: have seen the system at utc, as I deal with them and Siemens a lot in my work. (and you probably if your in the highways)
