Sweep
I went to France this weekend just gone. I drove down to Dover and onto the ferry, not once did I have to produce my passport or prove who I was, I just stopped at the P&O office, they checked my car registration and booking reference and let me on. I then drove off the other side and straight into France. I thought it a bit odd that my wfe and I had managed to travel across the channel without "the authorities" checking. I thought that was bad enough, but coming back the other way last night, I drove to the ferry port, and I could see the immigration channels so I drove up and wound my window down. The officer just looked and me and the wife and said "Drive on" - I asked if he wanted to see my passport, and he said "No, it's OK". When we were then queneing up to get on the ferry, a couple of blokes with sniffer dogs then started to check random vehicles. We were not checked, so drove onto the ferry, once in Dover, straight off the other side and onto the M20 back towards home. So I managed to get out of the country and then back into the country without being checked, no wonder there are so many folk here who aren't supposed to be. I would have thought in these times they would have at least attempted to even look at peoples passports

Over in Calais, when we were coming back, the only vehicles approached for "spot checks" were those containg swarthy looking foreigh types (like Carlos)

no balls
There's more security getting in and out of Gibraltar than that & it's the same bloody country. Having said that, going through customs in the US once I got pulled and was shitting it as I had loads of apparel samples in my case (you're supposed to pay shipping tax in them). The bloke went to open a little purse in my toiletries bag to which I said 'do you mind, they're my wimmin's things'. He said sorry & left it at that. It was only after I thought there could've been anything in there.
desert
your average illegal isn't going to be driving a ford escort and speaking in a bolton accent. they do it so much that they can tell who the dodgy ones are most of the time.
