Official Web Site

Went to look at the Official Website for details for Alonso on the profiles and found that he is not included. Also I noticed Danny Ward isn't there.

Quite a few League 2 teams have better Official Web Sites than us, especially for the Reserve/ Academy teams.

The website is offcially cack.

If it wasn't for needing ticket info for away games, I'd never visit it

It's because the site is ran as part of that shite network.

Not only a shocking design but it has awful content. I doubt BWFC have that much to do with the maintenence of it to be honest.

Its shite and takes forever to upload new news. they've only just reported we've sold anelka.

i come on here for news before i go on there

This may all be true but it's not an excuse. It's their website, it shouldn't be the same as every tin pot club. They underestimate it's value when they gave it away. They'll probably realise this sometime around 2020.

can the club not buy out the last bit of thier contract and get a decent website built?

It even managed to go backwards in the last 2/3 seasons not forward.

Doesn't explain why other clubs on the same network do a much better job or what the Web-site Co-ordinator that they were advertising for a couple of months ago is now doing.

I was just wanting to look up some player particulars that don't appear on a web-site like this.

There's non-league teams with better websites than our!!

they need to knock that premiumtv thing on the head.

do you have any idea of the revenue it creates?

i doubt its a lot, but money is money.

Does anyone on here subscribe to it?

I did sub a few years ago and for the most part it was shite. It didn't work, you had to go to a standalone page whereas it should have been interactive and implemented within the site design. I noticed that they have gone with steps forward to do this in recent times. The page is just far too cluttered and busy. I wasn't justifying their decision at all, it's a massive oversight on Bolton Wanderers part. I actually reckon a couple of 15 year old geeks could churn out an indefinately superior site within days. As for content, it should be upto the BWFC media department to run, did anyone get employed in that position?

I can guess that it's a trivial amount, the site won't get that many hits really, feeding adverts may cover the costs but that's about it. They may make a few grand a year on betting and credit card click throughs but all in all this probably isn't enough to even cover a full-time member of staff in whatever IT dept they have.

Money is money, we both work in IT, but conversely, you don't prostitute yourself or do anything that's losing you money unless there's a potential earner in the longterm. I can't see any of that here really. It's like a half arsed "we've got to have a website so do it on the cheap" that shouldn't still persist.

The site is shit, it's full of adverts that aren't suitable for kids or the workplace (even if we have a 118 Bet logo too!), ergo no one uses it. It's almost impossible to quantify how much money the current "infrastructure" loses, I reckon it's potentially in the millions.

Unfortunately the windowlickers that complain about season ticket competitions and lack of highlights at half-time are maybe seen as representative of our support. In reality, there's thousands of potential supporters the club could engage with if they moved into the new millennium.

If you don't mind me asking how much was the subscription?

Oh, and they probably think it's cool to have an iPhone app, except hardly anyone pays for these things. Make it free or 59p otherwise you've wasted your time on that too.

To be honest I can't remember, it was between ?5 and ?25 if that helps? :pardon:

It was possibly an offer at the time.

The good thing about it was that you could get commentary for all games, which was handy then but probably not so much anymore.

Cheers :good:

Just wondering so I can envisage how much of an earner it could possibly be for the club

Sounds like rather a waste of time

My bro has, but then again he's a numpty.

that apps been made/put out by a company thats done loads of other clubs so theyve probably done the same with that idea too. Also, i think the app requires a subscription to get the best content, summat like 25 dabs a year!

FUCK THAT!!!

i like a snazzy app don't get me wrong, but ?2 odd gets me what exactly?

BWFC are swimming against the flow, technologically speaking, everything is done on the cheap, websites, ticketing, access control, it's there are all to see. Point made, they aren't getting the benefit of my experience free no more biggrin.gif

North Bolton AFC from Bolton Sunday league football had a better website than the current BWFC one, I'm not even taking the pish.

Dover fc (I think) is better, as is Fleetwood town.

Anyone know one thats better than our "premier league" website?

Kevin Wolze set up his own web-site when he was playing for us and it was quite informative and well set up, albeit in German!

Don't know why they don't give one of the young trainees updating part of the web-site for youth/ reserves, profiles, etc. They must have a fair amount of afternoons free as Wolze did and it might give them something on their CV if they don't make it.

I find these continual offers on the current site a bit of an insult. It shows what they really think of the supporters. This is the main reason why I don't visit it much.

Other teams seem to regard the site as a service to get people interested in the club first.

Maybe they read this thread?

Marcos Alonso

The club are tied into a contract with PTV and it would cost ?M to buy it out. So top and bottom is unless someone splashes the cash, nothing will change until the contract runs out. The club know it is shite but the current staff just have to live with it I'm afraid.

Multi million pound contract to provide a crap website, surely if it is worth millions then whoever signed up to it ensured it was a suitable quality? I am in the wrong game.
