Great find mate, thanks for that.

Our coach load from the Albion didn't get in until we were 6-0 down, we arrived late on Forest's car park and it was 0-0 at the time 😄

Ended up in their end where the teams came out before being escorted round the pitch.

Didn't get home until the following afternoon thanks to trouble with Forest fans later, hence the entire coach load kept in overnight, then the bleeding coach broke down on the way home....couldn't script it.

Great day and night 😄

No worries , that literally sounds like the match/night  from hell for you. In the following seasons Forest programme , for the Milk cup match they mention your coach turning up at Half time to find ourselves 6-0 down . Did the trouble with the Forest lot have any bearing on the aggro in the milk cup tie the following year?.

Just a tad mate 😄 🤣

Did we really get a mention in that Forest programme ?

You certainly did mate . I'll quote the piece because for some reason I'm shite at posting my own pictures.

The piece basically describes the game and goes on to say

" Notts in fact were leading 6-0 after 32 minutes and it's not hard to imagine the reaction of the Bolton Fans who didn't arrive until shortly before half time because their coach was delayed"

That Forest game being my first game I kind of remember every Bolton bit in the programme . I do remember quite a bit of trouble in the second half.

Where was the trouble? In the ground? My memory of the away end at Forest was a big open end that had several segregation fences splitting the terrace in to about five sections. All with a big perimeter fence.

The main issue I remember seeing there was when Celtic visited in a European game and it got that crushed that it very nearly turned in to a Hillsborough incident.

I think some Bolton had been put in a seated area in the New Brian Clough stand .  The Away supporters had 1 half of the Bridgeford end  at Forest .

Probably more like they decided they were going in there rather than they'd been put in there. Our away support in that era always had a contingent who liked the challenge of the home end!

Could well be , I just remember a right commotion in the second half , I'm sure Duck egg has commented on it before . I think it was a bit tasty afterwards also.

My first time at the City Ground was in 75/6 as a very small child. We won and Paul Jones scored a pen. Home and away fans largely mixed. This was the time when away ends had only just been created and people didn't really respect them. By the 80s they were a very recognised "thing" - so if you went in the home end you kept quiet or you were up for a rumble.

Bet Cloughie wasn't impressed with our lot's antics! 🙂

Do you remember the time when Forest had won a cup match and the fans invaded the pitch , he went out and started whacking some of  them round the head . He really was a character.

The match at Burnden got pretty lively afterwards too......around 11pm near McDonald's.......one or two got a different type of Big sMack 😉

Well remembered!

We had a triangular section in the corner behind the goals and 2 sections in the side stand.

We went in a couple of cars and got there late.  The terrace may have been closed by then so we went in the seats.  It started to get lively when Metgod chopped Thompson down when he was clean through and got worse when they went 1 up.  A few climbed over from the terrace to pitch in.

There were plenty of running battles outside afterwards.  A few Forest turned up at Notts County the following year looking for revenge.

Yep. And then two or three days later the bloke he whacked was taken to met Cloughie. They said sorry to each other and Cloughie gave him a kiss. Unbelievable.

There are lots of books out on Cloughie these days and I have 3 or 4 of them. I recommend 150 BC

I will look at that , he is the only thing Derby/Forest fans ever agree on , the can be a very tasty local rivalry.

Yep. But I've never figured out if there's a rivalry between Forest and Notts County?

The amount of older Forest fans I know who said Burnden was always a nasty place to go . It usually ends with smashed up Mini buses and coaches.

I knew you had spoke to me before about it on another video . I was only 10 so everything at that age seems a bigger thing than it usually is but I can remember loads of coppers charging to the corner in the second half . I heard years later Bolton gave them a good run for their money that night . Their favourite trick was picking off small groups going to the train station , there is a notorious housing estate the borders the route to the station.

I've mentioned it before, the time mid 70's when Forest came on the Lever End, not that many of them but including quite a few fucking hard rocker/biker types & they managed to stay on all the match, but outside they got scattered all over Manny Rd & some were chased & caught as far as up Lever St. It was quite brutal.

Anyway, our next game at Forest, there were only 2 coaches from Bolton & with Forest fans all out for revenge, it was one of the scariest away games i've been to with several Bolton fans getting sussed out & thumped on the open end. If it's the same one you went to (it would be around that time ), i definitely didn't jump up if we scored 😊 & was just happy to get back on the coach in one piece.

I was five at the time! I remember more about the journey there than the match itself. The City Ground looked nothing like it does now.

We were in the same orbit as Forest for a lot of the mid 70s. Then they got Cloughie and we couldn't touch them. Albeit in the season we got relegated from Div 1 (79/80) we won our second league match of the season (in January!) at home to them 1-0. This being the great Forest side of the time.

I remember a Bolton fan coming in late asking me the score, it was the biggest Fuck off you lying cunt i'd ever heard.
