Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

We were always on nodding terms back then

Sometimes played cards on the coach

That day though, he saw us scurrying out of the lever at full time...we had also started in the paddock

Stand and fight was his cry

He cauught up with us on weston street

Some mob that day Sheff Utd, me and Gubbins went in a kebab shop after the game on Deansgate for some scram and just moments before it was ready, a coach load of the fuckers piled in, we made a discreet exit to the pub up the street for a pint instead.

i think i got on a bus near the greyhound to get back to town

They werent happy  :)

As much as it was a weakened team, it still shouldnt have been conceding 6 - it was far from being kids, more likely this lot was too old! Jussi, Southall, Hendry, N'Gotty, Barness, Farrelly, Johnson, Frandsen, Pederson, Holdsworth, Nishizawa, subs Whitlow, Gardner, Ricketts, Wallace.  Wouldnt mind that line up in any of last 10 years!

That was more it, weakened team not kids

They were happy when Hull fucked it up at Burnley a few days later.☺️

Well to lighten the half time mood while being dicked at Orient, a memory of happier times. Apologies if posted before, but it seems to have been put up fairly recently.

Bolton fans at Red Star.  Look carefully it's a WW pile-on. Buckhurst and Squidy (where's he now?) next to me and plenty of others...

Squidgy was a proper glory hunter

Football was just a vehicle for his travelling

Think he's living in NI

I'm a bit knackered for putting up posts from 87/8 Wanderers games for a short time owing to my telly being broken. I'll resume once its fixed. Stockport at home between Christmas and New Year is next ... I'll give the 0-0 at Hartlepool on Boxing Day a miss.

Where was the trouble? In the ground? My memory of the away end at Forest was a big open end that had several segregation fences splitting the terrace in to about five sections. All with a big perimeter fence.

The main issue I remember seeing there was when Celtic visited in a European game and it got that crushed that it very nearly turned in to a Hillsborough incident.

I've spotted a game on you tube from 1985/86 ( Forest v Ipswich) and from that you can see away fans in 2 corner sections of the terracing and also a scattering in 2 seating sections to the left of the terrace , the home /away fans being segregated by 4 coppers by the looks of it , this game being 2 weeks or so after our game . I'm not sure how many we took that night to be honest , but it seemed a funny set on that the terrace was lpenned in really well like you say but the seating area was basically open season.

I'm assuming the property he's just bought is in London. Never got the impression he packed his job in down there.

you may be right, but i dont think so

Squidgy's house is in NI, I think, not far from his mother, but he still works for the Met.

I last saw him about 18 months ago in Krakow, which is where he spends a fair bit of time too, as his GF is from there.

Having got my TV fixed I can resume posting vids from our 87/88 Div 4 season in sequence.

A 2-0 home win over Wrexham and a turgid 0-0 draw at Hartlepool on Boxing Day had halted a poor run of results that had drawn Bolton back toward midtable. We'd won 10 drawn 6 lost 7. Next up was a derby v Stockport at home on December 28. We'd already won in the Freight Rover at Edgeley Park (1-3) in November and the Cheshire side were breaking no pots. However they had a certain Frank Worthington in their rank - an ageing figure but still class.

A 6000+ gate witnessed Stuart Storer (making his home debut after a loan deal with Everton) sweep home a first half opener for the whites. Then in the second half John Thomas did one of his Cruyff turns to set up a tap-in for big Trevor Morgan.

With the home crowd chanting Frank Worthington's name (much to Phil Neal's frustration) the old favourite grabbed an injury time consolation for Stockport. But it was a valuable three points, three games unbeaten and some momentum for BWFC.

Another debutant this day was a young right back called Paul Hughes - a kid from the youth system who got a short run in the side.

Good stuff.  2 excellent goals.  JT seems to do something great in every game, what a player he was.  I remember we were fairly dire for most of that season and its fair to assume if JT had picked up a significant injury or hadn't been signed in the first place, there's no way that team was good enough to go up without him.

What a turn by jt, wasn’t  the away game the same score and frankie scored another late consolation ?

He was a good un at that level. Looked like he could do with shedding a stone for the whole year - but a standout performer regardless.

Yes I think that's right. Sadly that game was never filmed as it was in the gap between Easy Video stopping doing the footage (end of Jan 88) and Roadrunner taking over (March 88)

Shame that - I was in the seats with my dad and the away end erupted when frank scored.  Night game if I remember right.

Brilliant that.

Never heard of them, but 16500 is a decent crowd.

Conditions: current players would be skriking.

Today's players would refuse to play, not because of injuries, but because they wouldn't want to get snow in their hair. Top sliding tackles 👌

Can see the players carefully picking their steps to avoid falling over. One of the best bits of old footage I've seen.

I was on the 542 back home sharpish, the sheff u fans were trying to push it over outside newsagents on the corner. Used to hang around after games, decided better to head home that day.

Great stuff.  They got some revenge when I saw us lose 5-0 there in 1984! (Aldridge scored his 1st goal for them). The cup game must have been at the Manor Ground, we were attacking the "away end" in 2nd half where that BW fan was celebrating on the pitch.

I remember BSA being very unapologetic regarding the Cup games , to him they were basically an hindrance in the early Prem years at least.

Edit- they were in the same season , lost 4-0 in the FAC and lost 6-0 in the LC.

Remember when after scoring 13 against us at their place, when they scored in the 1-1 at ours the away end were giving it "we've only scored fourteen"

Nobhead corner replied with "you haven't got foreskins"

Everyone laughed, they even applauded our reposte
