Recruitment Agencies

Featured Replies

Posted this in the networking site, but want to get it out to a wider audience.

Has anyone used a recruitement agency recently, and know of a good one in Bolton/ Manchester/ North-West?

I'm looking to review my career options rapidly.

Any help would be appreciated, ta.

You've not been touching kids, have you?

The only ones I know are in my industry, sorry.

Because without wanting to sound rude

1. Their job isn't to be nice to you

2. Size certainly doesn't mean quality in recruitment

3. Being big and covering everything they will have little industry knowledge, they are not an industry specialist; there are retail recruitment specialists

1. General courtesy is that if somebody goes out of their way for 2 interviews to at least let them know the outcome

2. To be told that my job is a mickey mouse career and i wont have enough experience for certain companies (I now work for that company after applying direct).

3. They are specialist recruiters with different departments covering certain specialisms

The orig post asked for peoples views on recruitment companies. I was their customer and thats my opinions on how they dealt with me..

your first mistake is thinking you are/were their customer; harsh as it sounds, but the reality is you're nothing of the sort - a customer is the one who pays the bills - the client. You do not pay for their services so in effect you are simply a commodity. A useful one that they could not do without, but a commodity nontheless

Frankly it sounds like they were dicks with you and I'm not for one second condoning them giving you no feedback and/or calling your career mickey mouse - it's highly unprofessional and out of order.

Finally, "specialist recruiters with diff depts etc....." is the usual shite rolled out by the large generalist recruiters - it's a sales pitch my friend so they can get into as many markets aspossible whilst sounding credible - Randstad are not a specialist recruiter - those in the industry know it.

Randstad never heard of them, but then I dont have a mickey mouse career  advice stick to the agencys that work in that field.

Randstad never heard of them

They advertise on UK TV.

http://www.randstad.co.uk/about-randstad.html

Randstad is today a global leader in the provision of recruitment and HR services. With revenues in excess of ?12bn we operate in more than 40 countries with 28,000 employees working from a global network of over 4,000 offices

I'd say they're quite big, so the fact that you've never heard of them probably doesn't bother them.
