I only read a few books a year, mostly when on holiday.

Just finished "Straight Life", the autobiography of Art Pepper, a multi-substance addict who was also a genius on Alto Sax.

I don't normally care for autobiographies, but this was harrowing and moving; I cried my eyes out when he died.

A great read if you ever have the chance.

How, in an autobiography, did he manage to describe his own death?

No wonder it's good

I'm sticking with the book relentless by simon kernick, cos I'm in it!!

Trainspotting by Irvine Welche, Goodfellas, ( I know both great movies) annd Starship Troopers by Robert A Heinlien (shit movie great book )

I lived in Henley on Thames for a while and I adopted a pub as my local, made a few friends and one happened to be Simon Kernick unbeknown to me at that point he was an author. Anyways he uses folk from the pub as characters in his book. Im DCI SuperJohnMcginlay (obviously its my real name not SJM) in that book and I have a signed copy with an email to confirm its me, so if a movie is ever made im cliaming rights! My character I think may also of appeAred in the follow up called Deadline however not too sure. :drinks:

The only DCI in that book gets referred to as a 'stuck up arsehole' (see page 88 of the paperback)

His initials are KL. Is that you SJM. You don't come across like that BTW
