July 14, 201114 yr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lho8-ySV3e8 Just been watching some Youtube clips and the clips of Okocha and Djorkaeff still give me goosebumps, still makes me surprised how we ever got them at the Reebok, special, special memories.
July 14, 201114 yr Nice to see you haven't changed one bit - constantly tugging Okocha off!!! Yes he wqas good for 2 years, yes he left 5 years ago. Personally I still love seeing back players who actually loved the club i.e. McGinlay!
July 14, 201114 yr Reeves and Philliskirk End of thread Surely with your name it would be McGinlay + : Walker Coyle Paatelainen Blake
July 14, 201114 yr Surely with your name it would be McGinlay + : Walker Coyle Paatelainen Blake That'd be too easy
July 14, 201114 yr Author Oh no is this the Walkden with the Noel Gallagher avatar from offical board Ok, I'm sure there are players who have done more, but in terms of talent, I'd be surprised if this club will have in the future or have had in the past greater gifted players.
July 14, 201114 yr Author Okocha and youri. I fuckin miss those days I wish I could see Okocha's 1st season every season, I was certain he was going to be sold to a team like Real Madrid after his incredible 1st season, each day during pre-season I dreaded waking up reading he was being sold.

Yes it is and it was Liam Gallagher but ah well. Nice to see people still find you annoying as hell! Some would say Frank Worthington was more naturally gifted, some wouldn't.

Yes, we all loved surviving by the skin of our teeth and to watch Okocha in the first half of that season you would be very upset!
July 14, 201114 yr Author Yes, we all loved surviving by the skin of our teeth and to watch Okocha in the first half of that season you would be very upset! Not really because he was injured for most of it and when he scored his 1st goal away at Birmingham [just like our Korean Okocha] he was most of the time unplayable. We only just survived, but the entertainment factor was the best I've seen from Bolton, we went onto achieve better things under Sam, but the football got worse, but worse was winning football, so can't complain really. July 14, 201114 yr Djorkaeff or Okocha? Djorkaeff for me - Jay Jay was a trickster and a good player but Djorkaeff just oozed class!
July 14, 201114 yr 'Ere we go again. Still think Hiero was the iconic player for us from the Big Sam era. To think what stages the guy played on, and even at 37-38 he could pass a ball like no other. Back to reality.......
July 14, 201114 yr And I'm sure the clubs hierarchy wonder why we can't fill the ground any more. These players were entertainers, people want to be entertained, its dead simple.
July 14, 201114 yr 2:16 The best bit of skill I have ever seen from a Bolton player... by a long, long way. Magical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV3GVYqiytk&feature=fvwrel

July 14, 201114 yr Author Right so this is hypthetical, but say we had Okocha and Djorkaeff now and they were younger, taking into consideration the transfer fees nowadays also, how much would we get for them. 25-30 million each?
July 14, 201114 yr Author What's today's equivalent of okocha and youri? Well put then in the team and the attendances would still be shit. Closest is Lee, M.Davies and Holden, but not on the same level. Holden could overtake players like Campo, Nolan. M.Davies a bit like Stelios Lee with the tricks and flair to be Okocha's apprentice.

Moot point. When Okocha was young PSG paid ?10m for him. When Djorkaeff was young he played for the likes of Inter. We would never have had a cat in hell's chance of having those players in their prime.

You compare players that don't even play similar roles! Oh by the way - Marcos Alonso is the new Nat Lofthouse!
July 14, 201114 yr Author You chat some..... How is Mark Davies like Stelios??? and how is Lee like Okocha??? You compare players that don't even play similar roles! Oh by the way - Marcos Alonso is the new Nat Lofthouse! Look at the players we have now, Lee, Holden, M.Davies and Petrov are our flair players, players capable of something different, that's why I said they are our closest to the likes of Okocha and Djorkaeff, I did also say they aren't on the same level though, especially Petrov, though he does have more ability than most of our team, but doesn't produce it, only in odd games. I compared M.Davies to Stelios and I also in a way compare him with Eidur, each have different games, technique, skill etc, but the way M.Davies can shift with the ball, keep it and move forwards with the ball reminds me of the players mentioned. I compared Lee with Okocha because out of all the players we have atm Lee is the player who has the most skill and flair and the best technical ability, Lee is my favourite current player but I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Okocha, I'm just saying he's the closest to Jay Jay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBw2rlX9bxY

We would never have had a cat in hell's chance of having those players in their prime. You're right we wouldn't have had a chance of getting them, however I did say hypothetical[sp]a bit like say we got them when they were less known or we brought them through from our academy, we'd have been having a bidding war right now from the likes of Chelsea, City, etc. Though Okocha did fade as time went on, I still thought his average performances were better than a lot of players best. Djorkaeff was consistently great, I reckon he's be wanted like Sneijder is now at a team like United. Thing of PSG, Ronaldinho and Okocha in the same team Edited July 14, 201114 yr by Didledee
