The R6 isn't hard to ride, no bike is, it's how you - the rider -handles the power you have in that machine.

I ride an ER5 every day to work and open it up on the motorway, max I get is between 90 - 100, for me that is fast enough, if I had an R6 I know I would be doing 120-130 :pardon:

You recommed anywhere decent to get gear from Athy? I hear buying leathers and such get off ebay, but a lid spend top dollar, though the most expensive are not always the safest! Cheers! :good:

I go to a little place in Preston - Ghostbikes, they are aslo on the internet, they have some good stuff reasonably priced, I have recently bought a very good leather jacket with all the protection in it for ?20 off ebay, You just need to shop around, ESB in Leigh and Bolton have regular 'clear out sales'

Crazy crazy crazy fuckers

Must be fucking ace

Until you hit a wall

A mutual friend of mine and Burnden Bogs will be along in a while. He won't post but he'll be looking at the videos nodding his head and thinking, "Been there, done that!"

Took a Kawa ZX6R over when my mate was doing the Manx International Rally a few years ago. Rode all the course in sections. On the Mountain where the TT riders are hitting top speed ( about 190 - 200mph) it is far from smooth. I was doing about 130mph and getting kicked about all over the shop. Had a brief brown trouser moment going into a corner a bit quick and the bike hit a false neutral. I got round but if it'd have dropped down in the gearbox I'd have been off.

The locals are all fecking nutters too. Even when they are just going commuting to work they are bloody flying round.

you crazy bastards, all bikers, not the lambretta folks but the rest of em aye :pardon:

I'd love to have a go round the TT course, at my own pace though, touching 100 is fast enough for me these days

mate has a nissan GTR that dose 0-60 in 3.2 thats fast enought in a car fuck doing that on 2 wheels :nea:

Thing is that happens to everyone,be it bike, car, boat, plane! They are the risks if you want to do something thats worthwhile doing! Its like showing footballers newsreels of Munichand saying "Yeah but do you really wanna play in Europe!" :)

very sensible answer, your only as quick as your wrist lets you be, most people that have accidents in built up areas are noobies so treat the bike with respect, R6's arent too bad and not too powerful. TBH a sports 600 is well enough for British roads...

Try VisorsDown in Chorley, or Speedwell in Radcliffe, both will offer some discounts pretty easily. Im sure first time i went in the former I had a fair bit knocked off my bill as I wore a Bolton shirt.

So to someone like the rocket centre and try some stuff on to get an idea for size.. its more like a Bikers asda there and you wont get too hassled, tell them youve gotta clear it with the wife mull it over etc and then have a look on ebay for the same items etc.. I saved about 160 quid on a set of leathers by doing this. If your just starting off second hands the best way but dont mess around with used lids.. Make sure its got the gold Kite Mark on the back and you'll be fine.. Im wearing a HJC one atm who make great lids and they fit me pretty well, you can pay 500 for a great lid but if it doesnt fit proper its pointless.

One arguement is that my 100 quid lid has passed the same saftey tests as the 500.. the other is that you only get one noggin, and that you should spend as much as possible..

Few of my old bikes..

The big toys

Honda VTR1000 Firestorm, race tuned,( 0-30 in less than a second )quite possibly the scariest and greatest bike I have ridden. The guy I sold it on to crashed it after 2 miles...

Honda CBR900 Fireblade.. Just as fun but not as quick, higher top end..

Kawasaki zxr750.. Dinosaur.. really fast nice and light and just a really good all round bike, managed to get 65mpg from it as well..

FZR1000 another heavy dinosaur, head turner and classic bike. Mine was 18 yr old and still ran like new !!

The little toys

FZR400 as above but a lot smaller and more hammererered er

ZZR600 top speed of 150mph, same engine as a ZX6R with half the insurance.. possibly one of the best bikes every built.

GPX600 the zzr's grandad, fun to ride plenty of power, just very dated now.

ER5 Fantastic bike low power but will get upto about 120 if you have arms of steel (no fairing),

had loads others but these are my favorites.. Im picking my new one up on Sunday as my scooters being sold..

I'm getting one of these bad boys..

ZXR_400_H1_89_1.jpg

ZXR400 H2, 15k miles its been dyno'd at 68 bhp..but it only weighs about 160. Pocket rocket maybe :)

Very nice. I used to have a grey import ZX4 which is the older version of that. Bloody heck it was quick! Redlined at summat daft like 17000 rpm! Probably the most fun bike I've had.

Bikes are fuckin crazy, It's a bit like drugs with me, I know both would kill me so I've never tried them

the tt it brill just standing so close to the bkies when they come past. and mad sunday ok if you can get over the mountain before it gets closed. best time to go is about 530 in the morning on a race day and have a play and get left over the mountain whilst doing 140 by archibold :yahoo: pity it so dear. can do a week round the alps for the same price.

I had a 99 and it was amazing, the last of the carb ones are apparently the best ones, but im not a huge fan of fuel injected bikes..

Aye i know who you mean Mickey, good lad he is too :good:

Frightening watching the power of them fcukers

I was brought up in the era where you got a 60mph moped at 16 years old - then when you turned 17 you could put "L" plates on a 250cc,which at that time were capable of 100+.

Needles to say,the first 3 funerals i ever went to were 17 year old mates killed on motorbikes.
