Tenant/landord - Repairs And Paying For Alternative Digs

Featured Replies

Reet

One of the lasses here has been told she cannot go into her apartment for 7 days whilst electricity meters are fitted.

The landlord has offered to ut her up in a hostel or pay ?20 a night towards B&B fees.

This sounds like horseshit to me, and I'd be expecting to be put up in a decent hotel for free at the very least.

However, i know fuck all about renting.

Can anyone shed any light please?

Ta.

EDIT: Apologies, forgetting the rules, how rude. She has massive bangers.

It doesn't take a week to put an electricity meter in.

She has massive bangers.

Can she cook and clean too? If so, she can come and stay with me for a week and give me the ?20 per night.

Everyone's a winner. :yahoo:

They're having to do the whole block apparently - summert dodgy going on though.

I spoke to the lettings agent and he was a cunt.

I want some solid legal shit to throw at him if possible.

Sounds like he is fitting camera's all over the house.....just for security reasons !

Thanks you theiving pikey bluenose.

I'm off for some lunch, I expect a winning legal case to have been assembled onthis thread by just after 2pm.

Probably involving massive busters.

Enjoy your lunch, I recommend 7 banana's.

So, why can't they do one at a time in the day. I had a new meter fitted the other week as mine was apparently at the end of it's life, poor thing. Took him half an hour.

Sounds like bullshit.

If you're serious, I can ask my mother on the law as she's a few houses/apartments rented out.

I wouldn't fit.

Poor girl was really upset and I'm able to string a sentence together.

Her busters are safe, for now.

If these are separate apartments he shouldn't be involved anyway.

The 'leccy board would have informed her (as the billpayer) that the meter needed changing and arranged a time when she was available to give them access to her flat.

If her rent includes utility bills she still has to grant permission for the landlord and them to enter the premises.

If the meter is in the communal area then they wouldn't need access to her flat anyway.

And 7 days to fit a few meters is taking the piss.

Tell her with the big busters to tell the landlord to fuck off, from me.

Has she spoken to any other people who live in the appartment block to see what they have been told?

I take it she is not having to pay rent for the week that she will not be there?

If she is paying ?650 / month rent then that comes to about ?150/ week, add the extra ?20 a night the landlord is offering and she has ?290 to play with. She should be able to find suitable accomodation with that. If she lives in a city centre such as Manchester then there are loads of short term fully furnished appartments available that can be rented by the weekend / week.

It takes 3-4 minutes to fit an electric meter!!

Just read the full thread rather than the 7 days to fit a meter bit and Mr Floyd in spot on.

Meter has nothing to do with the landlord, he wouldn't even have been informed. There is something fishy going on.

Ring your supplier for verification.

Took the half wit at mine half an hour.

In a dramatic development, 8 of the 12 residents have declared they are leaving.

Including the lass from work

Seems the landlord is a cuntdump of the highest order and is accusing everyone of pinching leccy.

I've declared myself out of the problem so will thank you all for the advice.

If anyone wants to keep the thread open, I'm happy to discuss busters.

Has she asked you yet if you want to share her next abode with her?

Call me shallow but simply having massive chest cushions isn't going to make me move house. Her breath is questionable too.

Just sticking up for the underdog.

how would you best describe her breath?

i work with a man whos breath smells like a marker pen with its lid off.

I like that description.

Erm, I'll go with curds, whey and a hint of shat. The finish is old carpet.

Our old PE teacher used to have breath that would make a dog wince. Pure cat shit and damp fags.

It takes 15 mins top to fit a meter... I have done hundreds

I used to work for an Electricity supply company

it's bollocks that he wants her out for that

One man could refit a decent sized apartment block in a day but to be fair it has to be done by the local supply company.... tom dick and harry from joe bloggs electricians aren't allowed to do it. The engineer has sealing pliers on him with a unique ID so fraud is prevented. every meter has 3 or four of these seals on

That's the way it was when I worked there anyway.

edit to say... 15 mins was if you didn't have to replace the board the meter is mounted on.. if you did it took a bit longer

Still got fuck all to do with the landlord, they would be pinching it from the electric company, not him

You can pick these up on ebay

A good topical discussion requires a photographic starting point

maybe the building has one meter

then sub meters in each individual let?

isn't that possible?

I can't decide what the best solution would have been without seeing the photo of her busters first.
