Tribute Bands

Just been having a butchers at whats on locally gig wise over the next few months. The vast majority of gigs/venues are booked up with tribute bands of which on further internet inspection I see there is possibly more tribute bands than original ones?. Coming soon the venues advertise are, The Clone Roses, Kazabian, Lets Zep, T.rextasy, Novana, From the Jam, Australian Pink Floyd, to name a few. There is obviously a market for them, but I have never been to seen one myself. Are there any decent ones around or are they all just a poor imitation?.

To be fair I think they are of Cod-head variety! Uncle Toms Cabin on the prom on friday if anyone fancies some authentic Blackpool candy floss and bounce around with some middle aged Ska fans!

chuck in a glass of buckfast with a glasweigan if you like.

Seen these twice at th'Academy. Last time was about 4 years ago. Excellent.

Not a fan of tribute bands, never can get my head around why someone would pay to watch a group of (more often than not failed) musicians play the music of a successful band. Worst still some of these tribute bands try and act like the band they're copying too.

well the chances of seeing pink floyd with my old fella are pretty limited,so going to see the closest thing possible will do for me.

Sex Pistols Experience are better than the actual Sex Pistols.

The Complete Stone Roses are the best tribute band I've seen, play in Manchester next month.

Any Lizzy fans should see these, even the singer looks like Phill Lynott. Great band with the right Lizzy sound.

We having it again next month mate?

Could well be tempted, what's the date pal?

Too many people are snobby about tribute bands. If the original band have split up or members died, then where's the harm?

I've seen The Complete Stone Roses and go to see Re:order a lot, mainly because it's my mates band but also to hear the music live (they're bloody good).

I've seen Dressed to Kill a few times too. They are a Kiss tribute band and, up until recently, had Ian Danter of Talksport on drums.

Another vote for Clone Roses. Top class.

I'd say that folk with that attitude have never seen a good tribute band.
