Globetrotter
I think he's lost the players respect. No way back. From where I was sat yesterday he seemed to be barking his touchline nonsense to no one in particular. The only flicker of recognition seemed to be coming from NRC who seemed to be telling him to calm down (saw the same against Arsenal). Hard to say for certain that this is the case but it does look like he's lost a lot of the players.
Moderators Zico Posted February 12, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) I think he's lost the players respect. No way back. Reading between the lines and putting 2 and 2 together to get 22. I guess that the players were expecting 4-5-1 and NRC as captain, even if Muamba turning up late wasnt the reason for the change, their half arsed performances yesterday were down to the fact they knew they were playing in a way that wasn't going to work, Wigan soon sussed this out and were well up for it Can't be arsed voting either way, as I expect a landslide but it won't make any difference, as in, he would appear to be going nowhere as it were, so we just accept it and hope for the best and 4-5-1 Edited February 12, 2012 by ZicoKelly

jagermoot
Who would want to take over at a late stage? Who could we bring in? I still think after all my ranting that we can pull it off, im praying to the football gods for a christmas miricle early
frank_spencer
Davies is club captain so if he plays he's captain. NRC knew that when he took over as vice captain once Cahill left. If Nigel got the hump because of it then perhaps Garrp was right.
cheekybwfc
Any other season we would be cut adrift and technically down!! But as bad as this season has been we still have a chance... Only just though.
Site Supporter HomerJay Posted February 12, 2012 Site Supporter Share Posted February 12, 2012 Yup just looking at the table and knowing nothing about the team, you'd think we'd have as good a chance as the others

I wasn't on about NRC in particular getting the hump, more the players seeing coyle regressing back to a formation/system proven not work and being disheartened If every man and his dog lost their enthusiasm upon seeing the team sheet it wouldn't surprise me if one or two players did either (cue a response of "but they're highly paid pros etc etc", I know, but they can still get as fucked off as we all did)

Butterfly
We beat Wigan earlier in the season without Muamba and a midfield/attack comprising Eagles,Petrov,Reo-coker,Pratley,Ngog and Kevin Davies. The only change from when we beat Wigan is Mark Davies for Pratley yet Coyle should be sacked. It makes you laugh. It'll be "We're on the march with Owen's army " next week if we win at Millwall. I hope Owen wasn't thinking about what happened when we last played Wigan, 5 months ago, when deciding who to play and in what formation, I'd have hoped he looked back on more recent games/performances, you know, like Liverpool, arsenal and what happened last 30 or so v norwich when we went 4-4-2, but you maybe onto something here

We beat liverpool and got a point against arsenal playing 451 only the other week. Which is the more relevant result? the one months ago against a different wiggin side or the good results recent weeks?
SpiritofBurnden
If we'd played 4-5-1 at home to Wigan yesterday and drawn 0-0, the same people would have been on here asking why he was so negative when points were there for the taking. SpiritofBurnden
Almost as clever as asking whether playing the same opposition is more relevant than playing different opposition.
frank_spencer
Almost as clever as asking whether playing the same opposition is more relevant than playing different opposition. no you plant pot, i was asking whether a game months ago was more relevant than a game only a week or so ago. You can carry on in your blind faith of coyle, and to be honest in recent weeks i thought he'd turned a corner and finally come to understand what was needed in this relegation battle, but he's proven again why he's not the right man for the job. It has been pointed out many times that 4-5-1 with two attacking wingers and an attacking CM is not a negative formation. They key to our recent (relative) success being two holding midfielders.
