Mona Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 It's sad to witness the demise of Rangers but the Murray and White knew exactly the risk they were taking. This may prove the final death knell for scottish football.Despite my allegiances to the Bhoys I really do feel sorry for the Rangers' fans as I know that could easily be us in 12 months In fairness to PG, I believe he has a little more business acumen than previous BWFC chairmen For one , you don't get appointed to the FA board and director of wembley stadium without rubbing backs and greasing palms If he continues to put BWFC as his first or second priority ( after himself), then I don't have problem with that We don't punch above our weight, we don't sign ridiculously over priced players We don't pretend to be a BIG club, as per WHFC, SFC,AVFC,NUFC We haven't got a massive fan base We live within our means And as a supporter who has been through the lean years Div 4, DIv 3, Div 2, Div , Championship !!!, every year in the Prem is a glory year Yes Rangers were cheating the system, and the fans, and every other club in the Scottish league by living beyond their means But the Scottish league is and has been a farce for years, in fact more years than I care to remember But the real shame lies with HMRC that have allowed a football club to receive preferential treatment over valid businesses that employed real people in every Scottish industry that has gone to the wall! You were doing really well up to that point. I reckon you can count on one hand the number of PL clubs who live within their means. We are not one of them. Quote
Traf Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Minus ?93 million is within our means, isn't it? Quote

jazza Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Going back to Rangers..... I don't want any team to go to the wall.. But the way both the bigot brothers have treated Scottish football and disgraced the Scottish nation I'm not sorry it is them if it had to be anyone. That's my say on the matter Quote
no balls Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 The "we love HMRC" sign at the darts tonight was slightly amusing. Quote

peebles Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 This missing ?24m in future season ticket sales looks interesting. It was paid into a subsidiary Company & has now disappeared. Strathclyde Police are aware & taking an interest it seems. Also, Milan Mandaric is interested in taking over the reigns. Roddy Forsyth just said that's good because he's worth about ?50m, so he can hand that over & live in a tent outside Ibrox. Quote
Members DazBob Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 (edited) It'll have been siphoned out of the club, into the pockets of Glasgow's criminal masterminds and passed onto Venkey's via Steve Kean. Those ridiculous conspiracy theories are coming true I tells ya. Edited February 17, 2012 by DazBobParr Quote
Big E Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 is there anyway that they can go bust? as in stop existing? Quote
Members DazBob Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 May well be wrong here, but it's possible all their assets, including Ibrox, could be sold off to repay creditors. So, whilst there is nothing to stop the club starting up again, potentially they could start off with no ground, nothing. I'd be very, very surprised to see that happen though, they're too big an institution in Scotland to disappear into the abyss. Scottish football struggles enough with them, let alone without them. As someone mentioned earlier, as much as Celtic hate them, they NEED them. Quote

That's my say on the matter Whilst I agree with you, if one does go into liquidation that would send shock waves around the game. All the while the bigger clubs get into difficulties and are saved by white knights at 11.59 the rest think that all will be right in the end. The demise of a larger club be it Rangers, Portsmouth or whoever would bring with it a realisation that this is not the case and could help bring to an end the massive wages, bonuses, signing on and agents' fees, whether it would or not is a completely different matter. MalcolmW Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Sky's agreement with the SPL requires 4 Old Firm matches per season..So if that lapses all the clubs in that league will suffer, but obviously Celtic most of all. Also Rangers need to exit administration by the end of March in order to qualify for a licence into UEFA competitions for next season. Quote
Moderators Carlos Posted February 17, 2012 Moderators Posted February 17, 2012 Why Celtic most of all? They've got millions of scruffy cunt fans to sell shirts and tat to. There's clubs out there that have fuck all revenue apart from when these 2 visit. Celtic = guaranteed Champions League football year on year, it ain't so bad. Quote
Members DazBob Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 Why Celtic most of all? Same reason Lex Luther needs Superman. Quote
MalcolmW Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Unless Celtic (or another Scottish club) make real progress in UEFA competitions next season, thereafter the Scottish champions will start alongside the Welsh and Irish champions in Q2 of the Champions' League (Q1 is for absolute minnows). And the runners-up will only be in the Europa League. Quote
no balls Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Same reason Lex Luther needs Superman. that's the way I see them both. The Celtic fans who think it's funny, who you going to hate now? Quote
Rembrandt Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I don't know if we are bending the rules or not. Did I suggest that we were? No I didn't. Nope, you didn't. But the topic is Rangers and you brought in a comparison with English/Welsh Prem clubs in general, and the Wanderers in particular. The reasoning wasn't obvious, so I wondered if you thought BW were bending the tax rules like Rangers seem to have been. Quote
