I just pointed out that we scored three in two games. I'd say our goal threat from set-pieces is as good as it's been for a while.

Im saying comparing Whitlow, Barness and Charlton is absolutely pointless as if you want someone like that we can easily find one from the lower leagues.

I didn't know that, id have guess youd had gone for the attacking fullback over the competent defender, but each to their own.

 

Personally id stick with the attacking fullback and sort out the areas of the team that realy need sorting to help him get by.

And on the point about playing Ricketts "out of position", yes he is right footed, but he is so comfortable on his left foot, that even yesterday when playing on the right he looked to use his left foot a lot of the time, so for me playing him at either full back doesn't matter, neither position is "out of position".

 

In addition, if he had of played left back yesterday, he'd have been up against a left-footed right winger forever cutting inside, thus onto Ricketts better foot..... I still think Coyle should have changed things after half time by moving Ricketts over to stop Duff.

 

The 2nd goal came as a result of Alonso (but it could have been Pratley) being unable to put a simple pass to a white shirt.... he was then left seriously out of position, when he did get back in front of Duff, he didn't know if he was coming or going. And for once, Duff put in a decent right footed cross..... but then again, a ?17m footballer should be able to use both feet.

Anyway, back to our problems at LB..

 

I'd much rather us look steady at the back than have exciting, attacking full-backs. Every opposing manager will have seen what Duff did to Alonso yesterday and will be hoping to see Alonso in our starting XI when they come up against us. They'll target us down our left in the same way they did when Robinson was playing there earler in the season.

 

As I said earlier, I can see why Coyle contnued with Alonso there but don't agree with his decision and I think it was another show of his naivety and dare I say his arrogance.

 

Steinsson isn't the best RB in the world, neither is Ricketts the best LB in the world, but we've looked a lot stronger this season when those two have played in those positions.

Conte favoured the same system and signed a player he’d have watched play that role umpteen times.

 

He’s improved for the change in role and five or six years’ more experience, but I still think he’d struggle in a back four.
