Marcos Alonso

Seems to be a case of 2.whatever million spent, get him in the team. One half decent game at Ewood doesn't make him number one LB. Ricketts has to play from now. Sometimes a punt goes bad. Even a 2.whatever Real M. Frickin Drid One. Get over it . Learn.

Ricketts does play...

Do you mean Steinsson? If so, amen

Ricketts at LB.

As an aside, amazes me how Mr goody-no-booze holds piss-can smash-man in such high regard. (late night bitterness takes effect...)

And it wont get any better next term.

Apparently hes injured (calf) and might not be fit to play against newcastle

Its a funny old game

The night at Blackburn I thought Alonso was absolutely brilliant and we had a star in the making - he got injured late on to the dirty dingles and was out for a long time

Since he has come back the guy has been a complete liability; is it the same guy or is this the second real face transplant?

I think it is more of a case of people bigging him up after one good game and then writing him off after one bad one.

Which is not at all like Bolton fans.

Didn't he once take a throwing for real Madrid in his only 1 minute of 1st team action - good scouting..

So, you think that was what got him here, his 90th minute substitution?

Deary me.

its not one bad one though, is it?

he's just not a defender

in fact, i don't think he's a footballer

i've seen nothing to show what got him here

maybe it was his name, cos it sure as hell isn't his ability

I've not seen much either but he was a RM yoof, maybe he was a decent kid but just can't handle the grown ups game. I just get hacked off with some of the clever comments on here, your "he's not a footballer one". I thought you were better than that too.

reet, tell me something

look at how he stands when he's up against a winger

if he can't get his feet in the right fcuking place, he's got no chance

Its the aftermath of three awful performances from the lad

He was good at Blackburn away

Unfortunately we have too many who can perform only once every several games

I shall pay more attention then to that. I thought his biggest problem yesterday was he wasn't doing what he should've been i.e. marking, which I know are the basics, but he looked like he was wanting to be a more forward player, that's what infuriated me. Do your job then if you see an opportunity then you can look at the goal I wondered if it was over excitment from scoring. Not giving him he benefit of the doubt, but I am trying to not be one of those, he's never a footballer types of fans.

We've had players at left back with far less technical ability and not so much pace - Whitlow, Barness, Charlton to name three - but they all knew how to defend against a winger.

I think Alonso is a decent footballer but he has a lot to learn.

I wouldn't write him off just yet, but Duff is by no means the last decent winger we'll face this season and yesterday will not have passed opposition managers by.

He had his feet in the right place last week at Wolves when he scored the second, and don't forget he was up against a bloody good winger yesterday. Duff is turning defenders inside out week after week.

The only player in world football that's going past defenders like that week after week is the lad at Barcelona. He's a bit special, Duff isn't.

I'm not one to drop names (Craig Hignett) but a mate played in the Premiership for a number of years and he rates Duff as the best player he played with.

Who?

Who?

Fa Cup runner up & League Cup. Folk have had worse careers.

There must have been a few contenders though, having played at Barnsley then Blackburn when they were in Division One.

Absolutely spot on, Post of the day.

Its up there with "hes the worst player ive ever seen put on a bolton shirt". Weve had more of them than good players.

Don't forget though. Robinson was the worst left back EVER to wear a bolton shirt. ANYONE would be better.

Copy and paste the last sentance and swap Robinson for Alonso now

or Robinson for J Loyd Samuel, he was the same.
