I think your span is greater than your height.

Your span in also known as your reach and boxers tend to have a greater reach than their height eg Sonny Listin had a reach of 84 inches: he wasn't 7 feet tall.

My old fella told me this ages ago. To prove the theory, stand near a wall, bend down and touch the floor. Reach up as high as you can with the other arm and touch the wall. Stand up and put your head against the wall, it should be at the same point as your middle finger.
