I just found your post odd as you were talking about CVs elsewhere yet here were singing the praises of someone who's never even tried to be a manager. He may have his badges, but I think he's made his choice now. I suppose it's a moot point really.

what's really odd is that Gartside felt Freedman was the choice for BWFC as I would imagine there were many candidates with better CV than a freedman and in my eyes if Neville had of thrown his hat into the ring even he would have been a stronger appointment.

Mounts I can't believe how quickly you have decided that Freedman will definitely be a failure. I know you said it when he 1st came, and now that we're still doing poorly its quite nice to kind of give a 'I told you so' view on things, but fuck me he's inherited a completely toss team, has had about 15 games and hasn't yet even had a sniff of a transfer window.

 

You think that he hasn't got anything on his CV, but for me he's so far done nothing wrong in management. He's had one job before us, saved a club in liquidation from relegation and then built a team on very little money that he left sitting pretty near the top of the league and is still up there now. What has he done wrong?

 

Add to that you now want someone in charge who fair enough was a good player, knows his stuff etc but has NOTHING on his managerial CV and I really don't get you're thinking.

 

I'm not happy with whats going on at the moment, I'm not completely sure that Freedman will turn it round, but I know for a fact that it will take longer than a few months to sort out the complete fucking mess that Coyle left us in.

It's a reasonable point of view that you have mounts but to be fair to PG they set a profile of what they wanted and DF fitted the bill namely young qualified fwd thinking history with academy players you may not agree with the appointment but he was appointed for valid reasons whether he's a success or not we'll see I personally thought it was riskier than it needed to be but I genuinely believe he'll give us a squad hungry to succeed both personally and for BWFC

This team is capable of being in the top 6 easily as it stands, my initial concern about Freedmans appointment were that he's done nowt and I stand by that, now he has had a dozen games I have had a bit of time to appraise his decisions and his impact on the players and from what I see he his decisions on team selection and constant rotation and formation change are poor decisions, his style of play is poor, his results are poor. I would expect a bounce effect when he was appointed and we have had an initial slight improvement unfortunately it was draws not wins. In the last few weeks we have been beaten by Ipswich,Sheffield Wednesday,Peterborough and drew with a very poor Barnsley team,that to me is an indictment of the manager and at the moment these are the games I am basing my opinion undoubtedly all these teams are far weaker than any team we could pick yet we were beaten by 3 of them and failed to beat the other one. I have nothing else to base my opinion on other than his managerial record pre BWFC, which was not spectacular and his time in charge here and that as we all know is pretty dire, even against relegation bound teams, January is massive for him I hope he can steady the ship and begin to improve us but won't be holding my breath.

It's always the same with fans but lets see who has a top flight career out of the four, one thing I will say about Freedman is he sounds supremely confident with his ability to sign quality on the cheap from down the leagues and I like that, as long as he delivers.

The problem is that I thought Gary megson was as bad as it could ever get Owen coyle was the 2nd coming and Tyrone mears was better than gretski my record on being right is woeful I thought Alex Mcleish was the best man for our job

That's why I'm pleased he's taken the Sky route, rather than managing ManU reserves and being a contender for the top job there.

I think this is a definitive career choice - certainly hope so!

 

Btw, Fergie's playing credentials hardly marked him out as star manager potential, but the frustration of having not really achieved as a player helped to spur him on. What he achieved at Aberdeen (his 3rd club as a manager) was outstanding.

Much the same can be said for Allardyce (and substitute Bolton for Aberdeen).

 

Nowadays superstar players do not need the money and can walk away anytime they like. Think Roy Keane.

And super players can't always get through to lesser players. Think Bobby Charlton.
