Ghana White Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I've never been keen on john inverdale but the way he was on the verge of laughing whilst describing how downbeat the Aussie journalists are due to their rubbish medal total made me think he's alright Quote
maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Time to get my row on. 2 golds please boys. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Whoop whoop. Heptathlon really is over now, pending Ennis getting it out to 43m or so in the Javelin. Quote

maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 sailing results are in, britain have taken gold, the usa have taken silver and somalia have taken a middle-aged couple from weymouth SEB. And couldn't either of you waited for the actual medal day for sailing? Quote
Guest bwfcdan Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Yessssss!! Love smashing the Aussies!!!! Another gold!!!! Quote
MalcolmW Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Straight to the studio for clueless commentary from Denise whilst Michael sits their wondering what he's done to deserve such nonsense. Until Chernova has taken her last jump and hasn't gone 6.80 as she has before, this is very much not over, because she'll take 200 points in the javelin if ennis is put under pressure. Chernova was jumping 5 before Ennis (and didn't improve) Quote
maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Must be old news for some, but just spotted the Aussies have 1 (one) gold. AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA shit houses. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Chernova was jumping 5 before Ennis (and didn't improve) Denise called it as over after Ennis' second jump (i.e. before Chernova's 3rd). She didn't improve in the end, but it was very presumptious - she also called it as over last night. Just amazing a former heptathlete hadn't noticed that Jess always leads by 200 after day 1, win lose or draw, and Chernova is stronger in all 3 of the day 2 events, to the tune of circa 250 points usually. maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Bleasdale playing it cool - not vaulted yet in qualifying. Quote
Garrp Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 cant watch the rowing whoever that nob is commentating is spoiling it prick Quote
maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Shame for all our winners today - there so many they won't feel special! Quote

maaarsh Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Now clear in 3rd. Russians piling up so many silver and bronze I can only assume they've missed out on a lot of expected golds, so it looks like we're taking our rightful place as one of the 3 superpowers. Quote
MalcolmW Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 “The first day we got to go into the athlete village, (which) was really just stunning,” said Bill Coburn, who lives in Crested Butte with his wife Annie. “You can see the stadium from the athlete village. Everyone has their flags on their balconies, except for the Americans. I guess for security reasons, they tell them not to identify themselves.” So that makes the American suite as the one without flags! Quote
