DazBob Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 some dude on talksport yesterday said that bookings and red cards for anyone in team GB carry over to the world cup qaulifiers.... I heard that fuckstick too. He was trying to say that the Welsh players should'nt really be in this team as they're getting booked and could mean they end up missing World Cup qualifiers. Cundy and Holland should've just told him it makes no difference anyway as they're currently playing in an international tournament for the first and probably last time in their careers. Malcolm - please can you confirm if bookings do indeed carry over into WC qualifiers? Quote

MalcolmW Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 so when it comes to the 100m for example a false start and you're out, like bolt earlier this year in some other championship? Last year's World Champs! Quote

maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Incidentally, bloody brilliant day in the sailing for us. Now favourites for 3rd on the medal table. Quote
fatolive Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Good day in the sailing: Britain took gold, New Zealnd took Silver and Somalia took a middle aged couple from Dorset. Quote
Guest bwfcdan Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Christ almighty, how many world records have we smashed now in the velodrome!! Quote
Sweep Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 WooHoo the bicyclists beat those criminals in the final, and a new WR to boot. I hope my Mate Bolty is going to make mention if this to his neighbours Quote
Didledee Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Do they get money for the medals too? do these Olympic Athletes get paid like other sportsman? Quote
Sweep Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Christ almighty, how many world records have we smashed now in the velodrome!! It does go to show that if you chuck time and money at something, then you can be succesful. We are great at rowing and cycling, we could/should be great at other stuff. Why not stop frittering cash away on worthless cunts, and concentrate on our youth and encourage them to success. We've won a few gold medals, and how good do we feel? I think it's great Quote
stevieb Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Do they get money for the medals too? do these Olympic Athletes get paid like other sportsman? No they do it for the love of the sport. Swimmers etc get funding which is piss poor leading to people fucking it off and getting a proper job. Quote

It may sound soppy, but seeing homegrown talent beat the best from all over the planet works for me. You'd have to have a concrete heart not to be proud of the team. Coyle out Quote
Sweep Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Do they get money for the medals too? do these Olympic Athletes get paid like other sportsman? Diddles, they don't get anything for winning an Olympic medal. Once you've won one though, you'll earn all sorts of money from sponsorship etc. Some of these people have traind all their lives at massive personal expense, and if they win a medal, then fair play to them if they get to milk some sponsorship deals afterwards. In my mind, some of these people are way, way above some of the tossers who play professional football in the Barclays Premier League. Quote
Sweep Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Smashed Bolty's lot then. I watched the Kieren earlier, I think it was Bolty leading them out wasn't it? Quote
KP Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I'm sure I'm not the only one who just last week couldn't care less about any of it, yet I've ended up glued to all sorts of sports all week. I even jumped off the sofa and started fist pumping for a fucking shooter yesterday. I think it's ace. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Just burst a blood vessel. Fucking beautiful - big surprise - we're fucking dominating here. Quote
