no balls Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 3rd in the medal tables now. Not bad for a small island. I love being British me. Quote

HomerJay Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Watching the rowing? Emotional stuff And a lot if that is because of the commentators. Just brilliant. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 And a lot if that is because of the commentators. Just brilliant. id like to say again that listening to the canoeing on five live and it kept cutting to the shooting and back and forth yersterday was some of the greatest radio ive ever heard, so emotional, Quote

Alf Hartigan Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 with the events coming up,is this likely to be the best ever gold medal tally in a single day for great britain ? over to you malc............. We won 10 on the middle Saturday in Beijing. Quote
MalcolmW Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 What's ennis got tonight? Shot put done - 200m from 8.45, but the fifth heat has all the fastest in it including Ennis and KJT. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Told you the Swimmers were pathetic - not sure if they had an overly attentive WADA rep this year or something, but they've all been a bloody mile off where they should have been. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Shot put done - 200m from 8.45, but the fifth heat has all the fastest in it including Ennis and KJT. Shame about the final round of the shot put with Chernova coming back. needs to put a good 70 points on Chernova in the 200 (which she should). Wouldn't feel fully comfortable with anything less than a 325 point lead over her. Quote
Carlos Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I know nothing about swimming but to win that you'd have to go at world record pace i.e. swim the fastest ever 800m. Quote
no balls Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Pathetic? Oh come on, maarsh, that's a tad OTT. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I know nothing about swimming but to win that you'd have to go at world record pace i.e. swim the fastest ever 800m. It's her own world record. She was barely any faster there than the heats where she was coasting. Quote
Didledee Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Swimming isn't a strong point I see for GBR, could they be coached better, or is it natural ability that makes the likes of USA better than us, bronze isn't bad like, but was quite some way away from the Gold winner. Quote
Whites man Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Told you the Swimmers were pathetic - not sure if they had an overly attentive WADA rep this year or something, but they've all been a bloody mile off where they should have been. There's always a negative if you look hard enough. Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 You don't have to look hard. Lots of sports are excelling brilliantly and we're having a great Olympics overall, but the Swimming team have gone backwards. Part of that is the rest of the world, but a bloody big part of it is barely any of our swimmers have been swimming PBs. Quote
Didledee Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Not pathetic though, if they where they'd not even be at the games, I'd/we'd be pathetic v these pro's, not the GBR pro's , just not good enough on the day/overall. Edited August 3, 2012 by Didledee Quote
Winchester White Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Have the swimmers been conditioned correctly? Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 For reference, the official target (and the official targets are going to come in below reality overall - they're pessimistic) was 5-7 medals from Swimming, and we've got 3. Adlington swam quicker than tonight at the British trials. I don't know what has gone wrong, but I imagine there will be a lot of questions asked, and quite a few swimmers and coaches losing their positions. Quote
Didledee Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Will West Ham fill this stadium, it's massive, will they add more seats in place of the running track? Quote
maaarsh Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Will West Ham fill this stadium, it's massive, will they add more seats in place of the running track? Most of the seats are temporary - it'll be rejigged to 60k afterwards apparently. Quote
Marc505 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Most of the seats are temporary - it'll be rejigged to 60k afterwards apparently. I suppose his first question still stands though! Quote
