"briefcase"

Featured Replies

Last week Michael Laudrup was talking of the 'briefcase' that is handed over in Spanish football by one club to another as a financial incentive to encourage a team to beat another team.

In case you didn't hear the story, what he was basically saying was if you imagine Man United were playing Swansea, then Man City would be allowed to offer the Swansea players a shit load of cash as an extra incentive to win the game.

Personally I think this could make things very murky and for that reason Iamout.

Anyone think it'd be okay?

Who says the QPR billionaires didnt give stoke a load of wedge to play well against us?

...shit forgot we are fucking spineless.

It shouldn't be OK, but we know this kind of thing goes on, maybe not in the English game so much, but certainly over in places like Italy and Russia it does

i take it they don't pay up front, but say heres what you get if you do beat them.

It does seem a bit shady.

Exactamundo. No win, no fee.

Shirley you'll get shifty clubs (who have nothing to play for) approaching other teams saying, "How much will you give us if we beat your rivals next week? ... after all we've nothing to play for, nudge, wink." in a blackmail stylee.

that's the other way round though, teams are paid to lose, not to win which Laudraup reckons was the difference and why it was ok

shouldn't make any difference though really - there's playing for a draw and playing for a win, and for whatever reason a team sets out for a draw, i.e., they need the point, then why would they want money to try and win and then lose

imagine it only comes in play at the end of the season when teams have "nothing" to play for

but still, it shouldn't be like that

plus what happens if you try really hard to win and then don't? do you still get the money?

dodgy

I thought this was going to be a picture thread with cunts walking about with a briefcase, is there still a need for the briefcase?

Big Sam says you can fit more cash in a briefcase than you can in a manila envelope, plus there less risk of getting it wet in the rain.

Allegedly, of course. I wouldn't want the fat potato-headed walrus-faced cunt from Dudley to sue me.
