December 11, 201213 yr Not one to throw up controversy, but i remember an old club on Kirkhall Lane in Leyth for Ukranians, we young uns at the time called it the Kremlin, it was full of pitmen from E Europe who fought along with the Germans in the war, got captured and stayed in the UK to work, if they would have gone back they would have been shot by the Russians. My point is, they stayed over here, got jobs and grafted hard in the mines and mingled well in the community.

There was also shortage of available labour after WWII. Not a problem with that nor with anyone coming here to graft and contribute, especially when we've got plenty of our own bone idle wankers sat watching Jezza.

December 12, 201213 yr According to a mate of mine, on his travels through Balkans and Central Europe, came across a group of; Brits, Yanks, Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis etc. who had formed a little enclave and shared a 'choice' worldview - of the '...going to hell in a handcart' variety...Where had they set up their little commune? Bulgaria! You couldn't make it up, they'd obviously heeded Maggie's (Tate) advice... A broad statement but, folk working overseas (or offshore) will live in shite conditions and do a rough job/graft harder for greater pay. I'm sure there's gangs of Brits in Cyprus, Greece and Spain doing shite bar/rep work for long hours etc. and living 6 to an apartment - the only difference is their wages probably gets pissed up the wall or stuck up their hooter, rather than sent back home.

He worked at Moseley Common and Agecroft. There was a Polish club and church on High Street nr Great Lever.
