Borrowing the mother in laws nexus 7 for when we go on holiday so we can put films on for the mrs. Is it just a case of drag and drop or put em on an SD or what?

well, hang around til spaznob sees this and he'll advise

think he downloads straight to his and sticks the lead from tab to telly

Aye this is exactly what Spaznob does.

I've got Utorrent on mine so download straight to the tab (onto the SD card). It's then just a case of plugging the tablet into my telly (via micro HDMI lead) and away you go.

Same applies to any apps I've got on my tab, such as CatchUp TV, Netflicks, etc.

I know very little really about tablets, but I do know that anyone wondering which one to get should think about what they're going to want to do with it before making a decision.

For me the HDMI out is the best part of my Acer. The screen resolution on it is probably far from the best, but as a device I can fill with music/movies and take it anywhere and simply plug it into any telly that's got HDMI. It of course does all the other stuff I need such as xhamster internet.

Is it this one, Spacdick?

Nah, not the same as mine. Can't see any indication of HMDI connectivity.

Personally, I wouldn't get one without HMDI, but that's just my own preference.

... but if you're just going to sit there with it on your lap and have no intention of downloading filums and hooking it up to your telly then I guess it wouldn't matter.

Ta muchly.

Download the films and drag and drop them onto the tablet. Get VLC player and play them through that.

You can also buy a USB OTG cable which you can then attach a stick or SD card reader to and watch films off that.

Reet, 9 or 10 inch tablet, mainly for internet usage, not expensive.

Fire away

Loads of Chinese ones about that are good but I was a bit wary of issues if it needed sending back.

I want a 10 but went for a 7 in the end and have barely used my laptop since.

Don't want a no-name one really.

Got one for just under a ton for my daughter and it was shite, so I'm in the process of getting refund.

I was thinking about the Nook HD+ for £179, any thoughts anyone?

Google have a nexus 10 out but not sure on price

Are you/her arsed about plugging it into the telly?

It's £319. If I'm spending that much, I might as well buy another iPad.

Not at all

In which case I'd not get an Acer like I've got. It's a great bit of kit but the display isn't HD.

I'd also not get one of those Kindles either. The OS is absolute gash.

I'm not sure I need HD, but that Nook is reduced to £179 on their site and £169.96 after cashback.

Doubt I'll get better value elsewhere.

Check out the Acer a210

I think the nooks OS is severely bastardised

Acer won't have fcuked up the OS

Up to you at the end of the day - check out the reviews of both

Have a look at Tesco and Argos outlets on eBay, they sell 'refurbished' Samsung, Motorola tablets for around £200. Bought a refurbished Xoom myself a couple of months back, it was brand new.

They tend to be store returns rather than broken and then refurbished, a years warranty with them too.
